Doom Eternal To Get Rid of Denuvo In Its Next Update, Confirms id Software

Denuvo anti-cheat has been a major part of Bethesda’s Doom Eternal. The newest addition to the Doom franchise was arguably one of the best games by Bethesda and immediately took the gaming world by storm. Hosting not only hardcore Doom fans but even newbies into its well built FPS experience the game had almost everything right. Except almost doesn’t mean everything.

In a recent Reddit post, Executive Producer at id Software, in fact, confirm that the new update would, in fact, remove Denuvo protection on Doom Eternal at least for the campaign mode. Moreover, he stated that the newest update on PCs would remove the protection for single-player modes and the backlash over at Bethesda is unnecessary given that the implementation of Denuvo was completely id Software’s doing.

Certainly, the extremely negative feedback has in fact made folks over at id Software to change things up. Furthermore, the executive confirms that the various bugs and performance issues are totally unrelated to the Denuvo problem and would be addressed in the next update. The anti-cheat is to remain active for multiplayer mode given its importance over there.

Denuvo anti cheat’s been a part and parcel of the game since its launch and fans weren’t exactly happy by its implication. Such aggressive behaviour by an anti-cheat DRM was, of course, absurd yet justifiable considering how much security matters for both the player base and the developers. Except the tradeoffs were immense.

Taking control of your storage, having needed a constant online verification and much more is just too much to bear for a game that doesn’t even qualify as an esports title. Naturally, fans took the debate to Reddit and expressed how the freedom given to Denuvo is much more than many are willing to sacrifice and thankfully the devs have heard your cries.

The most recent update over at Doom Eternal addressed a lot of things addressed by fans which is an exceptional sign. Considering how the studio open to suggestions from its player base is nothing short of amazing. If Bethesda keeps on adding tweaks, fixes and new content accordingly, the game surely has a lot more potential unlike many of Bethesda’s “broken” games.

First Signs Of The Asus ROG Phone 3’s Existence Surfaced, It Could Be Yet Another Monster

The Asus ROG Phone 2 was an amazing device, that’s for sure. It had some of the craziest internals, some of the most aggressive, gamer-esque design cues, as well as some of the best prices on the market when it first launched in Q3 2019. As we move deeper into 2020, it seems like the first signs of the ROG Phone 3’s successor are emerging, with the first leak popping of on Geekbench.

First spotted by MySmartPrice, the Asus ROG Phone 3 has also made its round on the Wi-Fi Alliance’s database prompting the existence and upcoming announcement of the ROG Phone 3. Dubbed as the I003DD on Geekbench, the Asus ROG Phone 3, managed to score 902 points in the single core department as well as 3074 in the multi-core department which is right in line with what we could expect from the Snapdragon 865.

Both of these leaks were posted on the Wi-Fi alliance and Geekbench a day between each another which only means that leaks are going to be ramping up from here.

The original Asus ROG Phone 2 shocked everyone with its incredible hardware. The Asus ROG Phone 2 came with a Snapdragon 855 Plus, upto 12GB of RAM, upto 1TB of internal storage, a 6000mAh battery and was the first phone to feature a 120Hz OLED display. On top of all that practicality, the ROG Phone 2 also came with a headphone jack, ticking all the boxes you could ever think of. The device originally launched in China with the Tencent Games badge on its rear and started at an insane price of just $599, with the international variant retailing for $999.

Rumored Internals of the ROG Phone 3

Given the major expectations Asus has managed to set here, we’re interested to see what the Asus ROG Phone 3 could bring to the table, especially now that everyone has caught up with the 120Hz trend this year. Predicting some of the internals isn’t hard, the usual flagships such as the Snapdragon 865 SoC, a 120Hz/144Hz display, the possibilty of an even larger battery, and more.

ROG Phone 3 Pricing & Expected Release Date

Regarding pricing, there’s no doubt Asus is going to be releasing a cheaper variant for the Asian market and a much marked up price for the international market. Given how every OEM in the Android market has marked up their prices with the inclusion of the new Snapdragon 865 SoC, we’re keen to see how that would translate into the price tag of the ROG Phone 3.

Regarding launch dates, there’s no news so far. However, given Asus’s history, we could see the Asus ROG Phone 3 launch in the Chinese market by July, unless they have other plans in store. Incredibly keen times ahead.

Google & Apple Sued Over Rainbow Six “Ripoff” By Ubisoft

0

Rainbow Six: Siege has been one of the most popular esports titles in recent years with fully-fledged tournaments held for prizes worth millions the game is an absolute banger when it comes to competitive play and with timely updates and additional content it seems as if Ubisoft’s found a sweet spot in the esports club.

Naturally being one of the very few to actually have a proper esports game, Rainbow Six bears extreme importance to Ubisoft, enough importance to actually run a lawsuit over. Just recently Ubisoft struck a lawsuit over a “Ripoff” version of the game developed by the Alibaba Group. The lawsuit directly targets both Apple and Google claiming that the game itself has been an exact replica of the original and that it copies everything from starting operators, gameplay mechanics to even the start menu.

While there hasn’t been a proper response from the other side yet we can clearly see the resemblance and the fact that mobile technology has come so close to our full-fledged games that the resemblance cant go unnoticed. While Ubisoft clearly exaggerates on the situation, “Area F2” targets a totally different audience. In a world where competitive games have taken over the mobile industry, it is no wonder that the French studio feels threatened.

Not only is this to degrade the image of the original but would also mean that the word “esport” kind of blurs if we place this situation under fair usage. Seemingly a desperate move to garner a wider audience the copyrights are infringed yet the companies refuse to remove the game from the Apple and Google Stores. The situation as of yet remains disputed while we might expect a proper result soon.

Witcher Game With Ciri As Protagonist Likely In The Future, Teases CD Projekt Red

0

The Witcher franchise has been an active part of our modern pop culture. The original novels making up for the literature enthusiasts while the videogame trilogy allowing for a more extended experience is something fans love and adore. Moreover, just last year was the release of the Witcher Netflix series.

The show single-handedly took the franchise towards the mainstream audience with the adventures of Geralt beautifully portrayed by none other than Henry Cavill. While the topic of Witcher remains hot Jakub Szamałek in a recent interview with VG24/7 revealed that a Witcher video game would definitely be interesting in the future with Ciri as the main protagonist.

The interview continued and the lead writer continued to show interest in the future of the franchise and expressed his disappointment in the fact that the Witcher 3 couldn’t allow for Ciri to get enough screen time. While the story basically revolved around her not much could have been done and the adored character was gone for 70% of the game.

The novels definitely do justice to the character and with such a beautifully written work of fiction, it is more than likely that fans would love to explore the early stages of her life and then as a proper protagonist in our classic RPG fashion. While the studio itself is set completely on the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 set for release later this year fans are excited to finally experience the visual masterpiece the game’s been.

After countless delays, expectations are higher than ever and a successful launch would further solidify the belief of many in the studio. This would act as a sole driving force for the studio to experiment more and try out things in a more creative manner. All this paired with next-generation graphics and visuals would definitely be something to look out for.

Kaspersky Labels Denuvo As Malware After Latest Doom Eternal Update

0

Kaspersky, world-renowned anti-virus software has flagged Doom Eternal’s Denuvo encryption as malware. In a Reddit post, the screenshot shows that the anti-virus software has started to crack down on the newest Doom Eternal update released by Bethesda. Making the game unplayable for many since the firewall won’t allow for a smooth sail of operations.

Denuvo in its early stages quickly became the centre of DRM’s for various publishers for its advanced encryption allowing for very little to no piracy. Now while this may be extremely lucrative for developers and studios however all this comes at a price and multiple trade-offs. While almost unreachable apart from a few instances where the early stages of Denuvo were cracked, the DRM offers a seamless security option of video games requiring an online activation.

While all this is nice and dandy where Denuvo suffers is the performance department. The DRM is known for sucking up CPU usage, engraving its roots deep within the storages and having little to no limits. These features allow it to be slow yet secure but the real problem isn’t the performance but how much leeway is given to Denuvo.

It’s the year 2020 where almost everything is connected to the world wide web and not so surprising is the importance of privacy on the internet. Some might argue that all these mega-companies wouldn’t risk their reputation over some scandal however that is not where the problem lies. The fact that an anti-virus software labels something like Denuvo a threat only means that it has way more power than it should and could very well be used by those who mean harm. Of course, this could all be fixed by relaxing the abilities of the DRM at the cost of security.

The real question is whether companies like Bethesda and many more value their customer’s privacy or their own revenue security. Even better would be the middle route where they could very well work out a better way to provide a safe DRM without been given immense power.

Terraria Gets A Final Goodbye Update, Journey’s End Makes Its Way 9 Years After Release

0

Terraria has been one of the top indie games for gamers over the past decade if not the only indie game this popular in the gaming community. The game has been a part of almost every kid’s childhood experience with beautiful adventurous game design and 2D pixel graphics expressing more than what meets the eye.

After over 9 years the developer has finally completed the game with the final update called Journey’s End waving goodbye to its evergreen loyal fanbase over at Reddit and other socials. While the new update brings a ton of content and polishes a bunch of features including a brand new “Master” Mode for hardcore players.

Moreover upon the release fans and enthusiasts from all around came back to the classic game on Steam and the current players went completely off the charts. The game itself was hosting a respectable 55,000 concurrent players but after the announcement, the numbers were close to about 330,000. Re-logic himself stated that Terraria has been a beautiful part of the developer’s life and that it’s finally time for it to let go for the sequel.

Recently Re-logic confirmed that the next Terraria game might as well go open source since the development has had issues hence the huge delay. Given over a hundred thousand petitions signed the game would be crowdfunded and developed completely by the community and would finally see the sunlight. indie games like Terraria being the sole example of how arcade adventure games don’t require photo-realistic visuals.

Unreal Engine’s fair usage policy allowing for indie developers to use it free of cost could effectively allow for more and more indie titles while nowhere near the league of Terraria we could be expecting a new rise of Indie titles. For now, players look up to the sequel of Terraria given the community completes it as soon as possible.

Xbox Series X Production On Time For French Release, Confirms Director of Xbox France

0

The COVID-19 pandemic has totally changed the outlook of the year 2020 with almost every planned event, release and showcase disrupted. With that being said, next-generation consoles for the upcoming cycle are planned for release later this year. Major events being called of set alarms amongst enthusiasts about the late release of the upcoming generation with fans expecting an inevitable delay.

In an interview with Xboxygen, Ina Gelbert, Director of Xbox France stated that the consoles are in fact underway on time and would make their way later this year as planned. While this may be a relief for fans and enthusiasts, Ina stated that the scheduled release was under a clear threat given how work stopped in Chinese factories. Furthermore AMD accelerated its Chip production to assist the release of the new PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. The Director also confirmed that the products are on their way right now and that it is more than likely that players would get their console on time. Unless of course there’s a complication regarding the uncertain spread of the pandemic which might alter the course of events planned as we speak.

Phil Spencer recently stated that the consoles are fit for their timely release yet videogames might suffer from their release schedules since most of the developers are staying home which might delay the release by an uncertain amount of time. As for the Xbox Series X, it is more than certain now that the consoles are to make their way on time without any planned delays.

Troy Baker & Marvel Games Head Tease Daredevil Game In A Series Of Tweets

0

A recent Tweet posted by IGN producer Jonathon Dornbush asked folks about what would be the ideal superhero video game for them plus which developer would they want to make it. Now at a glance, it seemed like an ordinary interactive Tweet but things got interesting when Troy Baker retweeted by mentioning Marvel Games head Bill Roseman. To this Bill, himself responded with,

You, sir, are clearly a man without fear.

Bill Roseman

Now the quotation itself above is a subtitle to the original Daredevil comic book series hence the significance. To ordinary folks, it may seem usual banter in all fun and games but to comic-book enthusiasts, things seemed more than just fishy. For once many fans came out with theories regarding how a Daredevil game could very well be on the way. Now the quotation itself above is a subtitle to the original Daredevil comic book series hence the significance.

With Marvel’s Spiderman being an instant success on the PS4 it’s only natural for them to move over towards more underrated characters and franchises. With the new Avengers game and Iron Man VR title on the way, Marvel could very well move over to Daredevil. The Daredevil franchise apart from comic-book enthusiasts came into the spotlight thanks to the Netflix adaptation and the TV show was an instant hit.

Unfortunately for fans, the show got cancelled after its 3rd season aired yet having a totally new superhero in the videogame industry would definitely be something to look out for. Since the dawn of superhero games, we’ve seen Batman, Spiderman and Superman on the bigger platforms. This could be the big break for other heroes for a chance to bring variety to the superhero genre for once.

Pair all that with our next generation consoles and we’ve got ourselves a masterpiece featuring photo-realistic graphics and breathtaking views and amazing storyline Marvel’s known for. Now all this is still a shot in the dark and while we may take this news with a pinch of salt, the possibilities are truly endless.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 with Dimensity 820 Leaks, Could Be Another Budget Killer

0

It seems leaks regarding the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 are just beginning. The latest leaks come in via Tenaa’s Database in China where the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10, along with its basic specs have been leaked.

Based off of the data extracted from the Tenaa database, (courtesy of Slashleaks), the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 is slated to sport Mediatek’s new Dimensity 820 SoC, upto 8GB of RAM, upto 256GB of internal storage, a 4420mAh battery, along with a 48MP triple camera array on its back along with a 16MP selfie camera upfront. What’s amazing though is that the Redmi Note 10 would also come with an Full HD+ OLED display, a 6.57-inch OLED to be specific. With a few companies now skipping Samsung altogether with the rise of Chinese OLED, there’s no telling where this OLED is being sourced from, either way, looks like a good addition.

In the performance department, a quick duck by the folks over at GSMArena spill the type of performance you could expect from the Dimensity 820. According to the Geekbench leak, the Redmi Note 10 is almost as fast as the Snapdragon 855.

Regarding dimensions, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 comes in at 164.15×75.75×8.99(mm) and weighs 208g according to the specifications released by Tenaa. Additional details that are yet to be confirmed include the addition of the headphone jack, which seems to be most likely the case, as long as a 60Hz 1080p display. Pricing is also a concern moving forward as prices on these budget phones begin to trend upwards.

Overall, this is incredible news, but it seems to be releasing prematurely, especially in an age where Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 series is absolutely killing it in terms of global shipments, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pricing’s yet to be confirmed, however, given Xiaomi’s history, expect the Redmi Note 10 to retail for around the $350 mark, with a probable launch of a Note 10 Pro in the $400 range.

Doom Eternal Gets Its First Major Update On All Platforms

0

Doom Eternal’s been out for quite some time on current generation consoles as well as PC but in all the classic Bethesda fashion the game came with its own share of problems, bugs and whatnot. While the game’s been an overall fun experience for many sometimes it’s the little things that tend to question the sanity of the one playing.

First off Bethesda has added Empowered Demons into the in-game interactive world. If a demon beats a player in single-player mode that demon is then buffed up, upgraded and then sent to another player. Downing empowered demons is rewarded with health, ammo and tons of XP. Moreover, this adds a new layer of a player to player interaction even in singleplayer modes.

Furthermore, the update fixes most of the balance concerns by the community like the toxic damage, ability to dash while swimming and a proper set of tutorials to the game. The game has also buffed up the online experience. The “Battlemode” now offers a totally new in-game chat experience with a series of adjustments made to the overall experience. Bethesda has added latency indicators, a refined damage report and much more.

Most importantly players showcasing toxic behaviour or leaving matches prematurely would be given a penalty and new players would be given a compulsory tutorial into the game mode. The update brings countless balances to the game with various weapons damage given a reality check and with a ton of adjustments. For complete details visit here.

It seems as if prior to the update Doom was almost an early access title. With so much to be added with the update its as if the game was half broken on release. But Bethesda being Bethesda fans would know better than anyone. It is worth appreciating that they’ve addressed almost all the major issues of the game and plan on releasing the new Invasion Mode DLC expansion.

Doom has been a part and parcel for many and while it may not be perfect if Bethesda keeps on adding more and more content and adjustments this might be their golden ticket to what Doom was meant to be.

Unreal Engine Now Free To Use For Products Yielding Under $1 Million

0

Unreal Engine has been the go-to development engine for game developers and over the course of a few years has solidified its position in the gaming industry. Recently folks over at Unreal Engine showcased the brand new Unreal Engine 5 running beautifully on the PS5. Not only were the graphics breathtaking but the overall ambience, fluid mechanics and most importantly sound design were miles apart from what we’re used to. Of course, the 10-minute demo looked stunning running on a PS5 yet the potential considering the age of VR is immense.

Now in between all this hype what some enthusiasts failed to notice is the fact that Unreal Engine Licences are now completely free for creative folks as long as the game revenue stays below $1 million. This is definitely amazing news especially for struggling developers and artists moreover the fact that the engine itself is practically free for those wanting to just polish their skills shows immense potential.

All the available tools including the complete source code, countless demos and templates are now completely free for fair use for both games and non-games.

Royalty fees begin after the product has grossed over $1 million and Unreal Engine is to be paid 5% of the revenue earned above that. Considering the fact that you owe literally nothing to Epic Games before your monetized product hits a million dollars is nothing short of an achievement. Not only is it to boost the lower bracket of indie developers but would allow for a more reasonable income for struggling studios and producers. And yes this free to use license applies on the upcoming Unreal Engine 5 as well.

The episode is set to begin at 1 PM Pacific Time and the current cut clocks around 20 minutes so we should be expecting something around that neighbourhood. The streams are to take place on their YouTube and Twitch.

Terraria: Otherworlds To Go Open Source Given 100,000 Signed Petitions, Says Developer

0

Terraria was a game that shaped up childhood for many of us. The 2D sandbox game made titles filled with extraordinary graphics and visuals look mediocre with its beautiful development and design. The game not only gave the 2D sandbox genre a new hope but also proved that 2D can still be fun with its unique action-adventure playstyle.

The developer Relogic recently revealed that the work being done on the sequel was just not going through and that the project had been abandoned. Named “Terraria: Otherworlds” the game just never got to see the light of the day and fans were more than just saddened. He revealed that if fans were that invested in a sequel he’d willingly make the game open source if we were to manage 100,000 petitions.

While the game itself was left in the middle the developer just couldn’t complete it due to an uncountable number of problems faced. Having the whole game go open source would mean that the community’s modders and developers would all chip in to complete the game that was once dreamt by the developer.

Now arguably it won’t be the very same as Relogic himself completing the game however the amount of nostalgia and love for Terraria is immense. The goal to reach is a long way off and only about five thousand have signed the petition. I have and so should you even if you don’t plan on playing the game. All it takes is a minute and you might make someone’s day. Having been able to crowdsource the development could mean that enthusiasts would finally be able to play the sequel they only dreamed of.

The petition takes place here and any help to boost the signatures would most certainly be appreciated.

Sony Announces PlayStation Studios Branding For Its Exclusives – Set To Debut Alongside The PS5

Today Sony announced PlayStation Studios branding to unite all of its first-party studios under one uniform name and a uniform outlook. Having such amazing first-party developers and game studios for the PlayStation has always played to Sony’s key. In fact, some may say that having such remarkable exclusives is the only thing that makes the PlayStation franchise shine.

Since everything was going so well why have a branding change you may ask? Well for starters having uniformity is always welcome and the fact that this change is more for the consumers than the actual studios or developers. With this, they’ve launched a brand new logo and a seventeen-second animated clip featuring all the amazing exclusives these studios have been able to produce over these years.

PlayStation Studios Animation

Synonymous with impressive award-winning titles like God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Little Big Planet and so many more the PlayStation Studios branding is to go live alongside the PS5. Sony stated that this move was to bring total uniformity for consumers so that they know exactly where the game they play came from.

To be quite honest it works, enthusiasts are to begin relating the PlayStation Studios logo with impressive, engaging and jaw-dropping titles and to have such an impact is just the cherry on top. It is clear that the new logo is to be synonymous with exclusive titles produced/ managed by Sony however this does not at all mean that Sony owns the developer or the studio. What this means is that they were the first in line to get the product and that they were the ones playing as a catalyst in its production.

Moreover, with exclusives like The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima well underway the PlayStation Studios branding won’t be making its way on them and similarly, they won’t be able to make it for Horizon Zero Dawn’s PC release. Similarly, they also revealed that titles released on other platforms would still hold the PlayStation Studios branding no matter what.

The logo itself is to be placed on physical disks and is to represent its exclusive stance wherever placed.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 To Come With An Even Bigger Display, and Variable Refresh Rate

0

Samsung’s definitely gearing up for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. However, as we near the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series, new leaks have emerged suggesting some of the earliest of details of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series.

The latest leak comes in from Ross Young, suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus would come with an even larger display, 6.87-inches to be specific. Furthermore, this new display suggested by the Founder of DisplaySearch suggests that Samsung might’ve finally got their act together as this new display would come with a variable refresh rate.

Currently, Samsung’s Galaxy S20 series of devices come with fixed refresh rates, meaning that there’s no room for battery savings. Brands like OnePlus, Google and Huawei have implemented some form of power savers with the inclusion of these new high-refresh rate displays. With the addition of variable refresh rate technology, the device could begin saving power automatically under certain situations.

These leaks were further given the green light by popular leakster, Ice Universe, where he affirmed that the leaks were indeed true and in line with his sources too.

Note 20+ Display Leak

Note 20+ will grow from 6.8″ to 6.87″, resolution will increase to 3096 x 1444 resulting in a 497 PPI, 19.3:9 aspect ratio. It will also have 120Hz refresh with LTPO, lowest power implementation of 120Hz due to variable refresh. #GalaxyNote20+

Good conditions to reduce the refresh rate without the user noticing include lowering the refresh rate in video apps such as YouTube/Netflix based off of the video’s refresh rate, or lowering the refresh rate to 30 Hz until a touch is detected.

Anyways, with 4000mAh being the standard for batteries on flagships, having some additional battery optimizations should be incredible all around, improving the battery life on Samsung’s upcoming flaghips which is much needed.
