Sony and Epic Games have been working together for quite some time now. The most recent Unreal Engine 5 demo running on the PS5 was a definite proof of what the two companies have been doing behind the scenes. Sony seemingly enough has taken quite a different approach with the PS5 than they did with the release of PS4. They’ve quite intelligently held back key details about their console for later reveals and while this minority stake may not seem much. The companies have started to work towards a collective goal of improving technology.

Being the maker of Fortnite, the highest-rated game in the world right now. This definitely puts Sony at an advantage over other platforms. Given the deal, they could focus more on exclusive content brought in especially for the PlayStation.

Similarly, this could also mean that the folks over at Sony would be working closely with the creators of Unreal Engine 5. Undoubtedly being the next widely used game engine its nothing but a clear advantage for Sony and a definite power move to strike a deal at this time.

Epic Games as a whole has been striking constant deals with its partners, claiming to raise over $1.58 billion over the previous three funding rounds.

The original trilogy itself was never released for the current generation consoles yet the EA Access subscription allows gamers to enjoy the game taking advantage of the backwards compatibility mode.

Yes, I know it sounds a little confusing when we mention EA Access and backwards compatibility. Actually the EA Access version runs the same exact version of the Xbox 360 offering similar visuals with perhaps improved consistent framerates. However, this still counts as a win-win situation for enthusiasts.

The Crysis trilogy is something that is enjoyable regardless of what time one’s playing it and considering the actually pandemic crisis having a whole new set of games is something we wouldn’t mind. With the remastered Crysis title on its way, this is certainly a way to improve the popularity.

Moreover the deal seems to only exist for the Xbox with no real confirmation about the PS4.

Valorant Gets Its First $100 Premium Grade Skin Set – Dubbed Elderflame, Releasing July 10th

Valorant has swiftly paved its way into the modern esports arena competing directly with titles like CS: GO, Rainbow Six: Siege, Overwatch and more. The game has a unique gameplay style very close to what we have had in CS with a touch of MOBA features.

As of today folks over at Riot Games have announced a first ever Ultra skin set for the game which is dubbed the Elderflame and is to cost around $100. Making its way to folks this July 10th we’ll be seeing much more of what the new skin brings. While skin prices have been calculated in Valorant points and other in-game currencies the actual worth translates to roughly around $100.

While the game is truly something to be reckoned with it has in fact compared itself directly to our trusty CS: GO. While they’ve been sworn as rivals by the fans it has truly sparked a competition between the two that further pushes innovation to new extremes.

What’s interesting is the skins is sort of dynamic and focusses more towards its animations and finishers and all sorts of funky stuff. Moreover once purchased players also get the chance to upgrade certain aspects of the Elder flame with their hard-earned currency.

The whole skin system is something CS: GO embraced and made worthwhile and Valorant just seems to follow the same footsteps rather adding more complications it seems. The game’s whole initiative is truly impressive yet this form of microtransaction is questionable at best.

The Last of Us Part 2 Tops PSN June Charts In NA & Europe

Source: PlayStation

However, the PSN downloads section hasn’t been quiet either. June’s PSN Chart shows that the game topped both in the North American region as well as Europe. With other titles close behind. Despite having such a huge file size, the stats show that given impressive download speeds folks are no longer worried about downloading such huge files.

As we’ve seen the hype is still built up for the game and we can clearly see that more and more folks are ready to opt for a more digital approach. Since the PS5 is set to come with a disc-less variant all this information could prove to be vital for Sony considering how many folks prefer online purchase than physical discs.

Its safe to say that the future is clearly disc-less however when that may come is yet uncertain.

Understandably enough fans have been coming up with their own theories specifically for the State of Play announcement. It is typical Sony behaviour to leave the best for last and fans have been extremely excited perhaps because we’ve only seen Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man’s sequel for the PS5 while the core exclusives that defined the PS4 like God of War were left off completely.

While others believe that we might get to see a totally new take on some of the classic franchises like Silent Hill or we may even get a Batman spin-off since it was claimed to be in production. Not much could be said about the contents of the event yet spirits run high and folks are definitely eager for this new wave of announcements.

The team behind the legendary game, L.A Noire published by Rockstar have been in the VR scene once before with a sort of a VR remaster for the current generation. Having experienced the platform and knowing all the quirks definitely puts them on the spot.

In a recent post by the studio Video Games Deluxe on LinkedIn, it was revealed that the folks over at Rockstar Sydney have once again chosen them for a AAA VR title. This not only marks their 7-year anniversary of working together but also gives us a slight insight on what to expect.

Given how Rockstar is an undeniably one of the most perfectionism driven publishers its only natural for them to take their time into production. Moreover, the upcoming title is designed to be an open world set in a VR position. While Half-Life: Alyx did push many boundaries, the VR world is still somewhat new and raw.

Moreover, the post stated that a number of positions including Senior Programmers, Engine Programmer, Designer and Animator have opened up which clearly means that this project is very well in its pre-production setting. However, that’ll definitely turn heads once more info is released about the project.

NewZealand’s Biggest News Network “Stuff” Quits Facebook Following PlayStation, Xbox & More

0

Facebook’s latest response to not changing its policies regarding hate speech has brought about a stir in the media industry. With major companies ready to completely boycott any sort of affiliation with Facebook things don’t seem to change much.

PlayStation and Xbox both boycotting the site with both paid and unpaid activity seemed only logical but now we’re seeing the largest news site in NZ to completely stop operations on Facebook until further notice. The news outlet Stuff has launched ‘in the context of the international Boycott Facebook movement’, according to a memo leaked to folks over at The Spinoff.

While Mark Zuckerburg holds his ground various giants like Coca Cola, Starbucks and many more have completely stopped operations on anything tied with Facebook. That includes Instagram as well. While Facebook depends solely on advertisements having cut off from so many huge deals is definitely a hit yet Mark Zuckerburg thinks otherwise.

According to him, the advertisers would come crawling back soon enough and that this isn’t a financial hurdle for Facebook rather a partner or a reputational issue. It is true to the extent that holding off such advertisements won’t last forever and that a company as huge as Facebook isn’t really affected so much so as we may thing. However, this really begs the question if morals are no longer part of our modern society.

In a situation like this, it should be us who raise our voices and bring down large corporations. All we can do right now is focus solely on Facebook to change its policies and to offer a more secure and humble environment for everyone.

Naughty Dog Comes Forward In Response To Recent Backlash On Its Employees

0

Naughty Dog being one of the top first party PlayStation exclusive studios were criticized solely on the fact that their latest game had a “questionable” storyline. The Last of Us Part 2 being one of the highest selling games on the PS4 was released just last month.

While holding the title for being the most anticipated exclusive title on the PS4, the studio did not hold back at all. Naughty Dog went all out with details, layering, models and much more making it unarguably the biggest project they’ve worked on. While this all may be true certain fans thought of it otherwise.

So much so that countless fans started to spam the actors and team behind the game with personal attacks that are undoubtedly way across the line. In a Tweet by the official Naughty Dog account, the studio cleared all the haze by stating that all those hate comments were in fact intolerable.

While the studio itself looks forward to any sort of constructive feedback going all out on the team behind the game is something unacceptable both ethically and legally. While the game itself scored brilliantly it is nothing but a shame how toxic the gaming community can get. It seems as if no one is safe and that is utterly saddening not only for gamers but for the whole community.

PlayStation Temporarily Suspends All Activity On Facebook & Instagram

Recently there has been a lot of debate going on towards whether Facebook should change its policies towards freedom of speech, hate speech and regulation of media. While the internet giant refuses to budge and give any sort of leeway by stating that it would completely change their scape.

However, PlayStation has taken a keen step towards the better cause by completely suspending all activities on their platforms. Both paid and unpaid advertisements, as a result, would come to a halt as reported. In support of the #StopHateForProfit campaign folks over at PlayStation have suspended the activity till the end of July with ambitions to change the way modern people think.

Gaming as a whole has been a catalyst in bringing people together yet there’s also a dark side to the community. With toxicity levels unparalleled there’s a lot of gamers go through henceforth its always a relief to hear something like this from the mega-companies like PlayStation.

While Facebook stands still with its policies regarding hate speech and sensitive content it is definitely an eyeopener for both the executives and the general public. Just exactly what does Facebook stand for if it doesn’t ensure a safe and healthy environment for its users? If they really do care about freedom then they should rather opt for a more direct and open approach like Reddit.

Breaking Bad & The Mandalorian Actor Giancarlo Esposito Reportedly Starring In The Next Far Cry Game

0

Giancarlo Esposito is the modern definition of an intimidating antagonist and time over time his works have proved to be extremely immersive and convincing. With past roles from Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian and current role in Better Call Saul the actor has done a remarkable job both in terms of acting and setting the tone.

As reported by Gamerreactor, Esposito is starring in the newest Far Cry game in an unknown role. While Far Cry series has been known for its immense innovation in the gaming space surprisingly enough it also starred Esposito’s current co-worker Michael Mando as Vaas in Far Cry 3.

The game is known for creating iconic villains and with it, we should be expecting something out of the ordinary from here on out. While the details are pretty much non-existent we can still tell by the fact that having such a star in your videogame definitely rings a lot of bells and turns a lot of heads.

With Ubisoft currently busy with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla all we can do is wait for further announcements. Most likely we’d hear proper news from next week’s Ubisoft Forward Conference but until then this news has fans hyped up for sure.

Far Cry’s experimental style has always been a unique factor to the franchise and it would certainly be interesting to see what sort of setting they go for this time around and what role does the star land on.

Horizon Zero Dawn PC Release Set – Would Make Its Way This August 7th On Steam & Epic Store

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the tier one exclusives released on the PS4, the title was immediately a centre of attraction on the PS4 and was well received by the masses. Having a compelling storyline set in the old times with modern robotics proved to be an amazing combination.

However, the game was earlier announced to debut on the PC platform. While Sony has been going quite differently about its gameplan recently from the orthodox Sony we know things are looking bright for PC users. Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition is set to make its way on Steam and Epic Games Store this August 7th with fine-tuned features fit for the master race.

We’ve seen how Detroit: Become Human was pretty well received on the PC platform now it seems that Horizon Zero Dawn is on its way as well. With unlocked framerates, better foliage, dynamic range and proper settings the game seems to check all the boxes when it comes to the fundamental PC experience.

Yet it’ll still be very intriguing to see how the game holds up compared to the PS4 and especially the optimization on PCs. The newest feature trailer also showcases a benchmark tool built in the game which definitely shows that Sony is, in fact, serious about its ports to other platforms and with a sequel to the game confirmed on the PS5 would we be able to see it ported over on PC is the question that remains.

Additionally, we could also expect a 5800mAh battery, a triple camera setup on its rear as well as the usual classy front-firing speakers.

While anyone could literally come up with a spec sheet for the ROG Phone 3, the pressing detail yet to be revealed has to be the pricing. Contrary to previous released, Asus is actually revealing the Asus ROG Phone 3 for the Chinese and international market at the same time, meaning that we could see some major details this year when it comes to the different variations of these devices.

As I noted in one of the previous leaks, it seems like there won’t be a million variations of the device this time. We could also expect the device to come in two variations, yet again catering the heavy lifters and budget enthusiasts.

We’re personally expecting the device to come in a slightly higher price, following suite of all of its rivals due to the inclusion of 5G on a lot of these devices, unless Asus has some plans to reduce the price of the ROG Phone 3 by excluding 5G from the Snapdragon 865.

Asus currently has a countdown on their page, allowing you set up a reminder for the event.

Sony Introduces PlayStation Indies, A New Initiative With 9 Titles To Debut

The folks over at PlayStation have been giving keen importance to the whole indie scenario. It almost seems as if the indie development scene has grown by quite a bit especially on the PS4.

With this in mind, PlayStation has announced a supportive platform for Indies on their consoles. PlayStation Indies aims to bring indie titles developed for the PlayStation under a much-deserved spotlight and to showcase that they actually care about small creative studios.

With recent VR support on Dreams and the free fair usage policy of Unreal Engine, it is most likely the best time to be an indie game developer. Moreover, the genre appeals to a much wider audience targeting non-gamers and hardcore gamers alike.

Moreover, they’ve announced an instant library of 9 indie titles making their way on both the PS4 and PS5. While Sony’s always had a great indie library it seems as if the initiative is to encourage developers rather than players yet the benefits are truly mutual.

As a cherry on top, PlayStation Now service would now have an indie title added to its library every month for those streaming on their PC’s or consoles starting with Hello Neighbor in July. While this is all the information concluded in the reveal, stay tuned for more reveals and insight here.

0

The movement’s been a great asset to the basis of every video game in existence. Especially if you’re targetting to be hosting one of the largest open-world games. Cyberpunk 2077 is just around the corner and it seems that the tweaks and improvements are still being made to the game trying perfect every minor detail.

In a recent interview with GameReactor, level designer Max Pears confirmed that they’ve stripped away the ability for players to wall run over multiple issues they’ve had to face due to design concerns. Moreover, he further stated that the absence of the feature won’t in fact have any major differences in the overall movement experience of the game.

Granted that CD Projekt Red has pushed back the release of Cyberpunk as far as they could but even so there’s a lot that cant be done in the given time frame. With such a huge project come concerns and bugs of the same scale and hence removing certain features to prioritize game release and reliability is something fans would definitely expect.

However, given how well they’ve kept up with the competition and how well they’ve enhanced their already ambitious title over time is something worthy of appraisal. Enthusiasts only await its release to finally test out whether all this patience was worth it or otherwise.

0

Just recently CD Projekt Red released brand new gameplay footage of “The Wire” representing their advancements over the past few years. From 2018 to 2020 the studio has worked tirelessly trying to fix up minor bugs and improving the visuals of the game.

The most recent demo is made out to be the final footage with room for minor adjustments. The game itself looks more promising than usual. For this occasion, a YouTuber managed to compile and sync the 2018 demo with the recent one and the results are staggering.

Not only do we see improvements in ambience, lighting and the overall setting but the textures themselves seem to fit better in the whole cyberpunk era. It almost seems as if CD Projekt Red tried to future proof the game while in production. The studio did confirm that it’ll be making a complete remaster for next-gen consoles but as of now, this looks impressive.

Moreover, entire models have been revamped from the early beta, lighting and shadows have been improved by a lot as well. It feels like a total remaster for someone who doesn’t know the difference. The whole atmosphere seems different and more realistic.

Not just that but it seems that CD Projekt Red did put their time to good use with impressive details and realistic textures unlike the ones shown during the 2018 demo. While the game is pushed back to November all we can do is wait and hope that the studio lives up to all the hype they’ve created.

Over 4 Million Copies Of The Last of Us Part 2 Sold As of Now

The Last of Us Part 2 has been out on the PS4 for a little over a week. Easily one of the most anticipated titles of this year, physical copies were sold like hotcakes. Enthusiasts rushed over to grab their own copy as it was only natural for someone to grab over Naughty Dog’s biggest work yet.

As of June 21st, the studio confirms over 4 million copies sold making it the best selling game exclusive on the PS4. The folks over at the studio gave their gratitude and thanked fans for believing in them despite all this time and delays.

The game itself was targetted by many to be extremely disappointing especially when one considers the perfectionism of Naughty Dog. With a totally unique directional perspective and a sorrowful storyline, there was a lot more than a few things that made the story a bit too heavy for many.

We set out to tell a new kind of story, one that deals with difficult themes and would challenge you in unexpected ways.

Neil Druckmann

Despite all that criticism, the studio came on top with setting a brand new record for most sales. However, things don’t end here. With two top of the line exclusives set for release next month including Ghost of Tsushima, there’s a lot more to look forward to with the PS4. It seems that the PS4 would keep on getting new titles as of now while we await further notices.
