Homefront: The Revolution – PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One Comparison

Today, Digital Foundry posted its video on Youtube, comparing the performance of visually impressive Homefront: The Revolution on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. The game is made with CryEngine technology, so no doubt it looks very impressive and the game-play itself is very good. But sadly, the consoles offer poor performance in the game. Generally, the game runs at about 20FPS on consoles. Personally, being PC gamers, we can’t even properly enjoy the game at 30FPS, but 20FPS? It’s too low.

This is where PC is superior, you can actually enjoy all the nuts and bolts of the game at higher resolutions and higher FPS (don’t start a war on this statement!). According to Digital Foundry, the game on both consoles is running the latest patch, which is Update 1.2 on PS4.

The PlayStation 4 runs the game at 1080p (1920×1080) resolution whereas the Xbox One runs it at 900p (1600×900). The image quality of the PS4 is definitely better due to higher resolution, but the Xbox One has average 3 FPS advantage over the PlayStation 4.

Both consoles suffer from severe FPS drops in alpha scenes. The game sometimes stuck for some seconds at 0 FPS while auto-saving. In the video comparison, temporal Anti-Aliasing is also enabled. However, Temporal AA doesn’t effect performance.

The stuck during auto-saving is also a nuisance, like if you buy something, get in a new area or at a checkpoint, you could get the game stuck for 5-10 seconds while saving. Again, PC is superior at this point as this shouldn’t be a problem for an SSD equipped PC or even a high-performance hard drive equipped PC. The console’s 5400RPM hard drive loses the race here.

Homefront: Revolution is a great game, but the poor performance on consoles is pretty disappointing. There are times when the game runs at good 30FPS like indoor shootouts or non-alpha scenes, however, the FPS sometimes spikes upto 31 and makes motion uneven. The game, at its full FPS ceiling, is still not smooth. But this problem can be fixed in an upcoming patch.

So yeah, if you’re looking to enjoy Homefront: The Revolution, seeing these early tests, we suggest getting a PC. An overall good PC with a GTX 970 graphics card is said to run the game at 1080p resolution with 60FPS. As a matter of fact, on PC, you’re gonna get way better performance than the consoles.

Note: I’m not a fanboy or anything, but that’s the reality, you gotta face it. So don’t go bananas on me saying that PC is better here (no offense).

Google has revealed that the new upcoming Android N will natively run in cars. This will enable much better interaction between the user and the car. The user will have the ability to control the car through the display, like heating and and radio, while currently, you’re only limited to controlling apps.

The car could have the ability to directly operate in instrument clusters. In a picture, Google showed a car that have Google maps and other useful apps in an instrument cluster.

The director of project management at Andorid Auto, Mickey Kataria, says that vehicles with Android N will appear somewhere in 2017.

Xbox One Branding on Battlefield 1 Doesn’t Turn Off PS4 Gamers, Says EA

The PlayStation 4 is one of Sony’s most successful consoles. It is currently the leading current-generation console in sales. However, one of this year’s most anticipated games, the Battlefield 1, has Xbox One branding on a co-marketing deal between EA and Microsoft.

This week, during EA’s Investor Day Briefing, EA got asked whether this will have any impact on Battlefield 1’s sales or not. Andrew Wilson, the CEO of EA, said that this arrangement won’t be a turn off for PlayStation gamers. Chris Bruzzo, Chief marketing officer of EA, also agreed on this.

Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, Said:

“This is a game for PlayStation as much as it is for Xbox as much as it is for PC.”

He further said:

“I don’t seem any limiters to our ability reach a really broad audience of gamers across the whole shooter spectrum.”

Also, this arrangement is pretty common among games. Sony also have co-marketing deals in Star Wars: Battlefront, Destiny and the whole Call of Duty franchise. Microsoft also had a co-marketing deal with Bathesda in Fallout 4.

Wilson said:

“Our console partners want to stand right next to the biggest and best games in the industry.”

“Typically, what we see is that just aids awareness. It aids awareness whether you’re a PC gamer or an Xbox gamer or a PlayStation gamer.”

The above statements means that Wilson believes that these kind of arrangements in fact raise awareness for the game in questions across the board.

According to Wilson, the console makers, Microsoft and Sony secure these deals because it may turn off the users of the rival console, but this may not be the case.

Wilson further stated that if you’re a PlayStation gamer, you do not reject this because it is in partnership with a potential console partner. You need to deeply understand that the game is also available on your console, same as it is on the other one. And what they get from all of this is a great awareness multiplier effect in the marketplace.

Battlefield 1 will release on October 21, 2016. However, people with Origin access can get it on October 18. The game will also have a beta before launch.

GTA 5 Has Sold Over 65 Million Shipped Copies

Today, during an earnings briefing, Take-Two Interactive has revealed that GTA 5 has shipped 65 Million copies. This figure was at 60 Million in February 2016.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was released for the first time for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Its been available on the PS4 and Xbox One for over 2 years now. 1 year has passed now since the game came on PC.

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has said during the briefing that the game is still breaking their expectations, despite it being close to 3 years old.

Take-Two also said that Rockstar will announce new games soon.

Sony PlayStation 4K Neo’s Release Date Accidentally Leaked by Distributor

We’ve talked about the new 4K PlayStation that’s in the works. The new console from Sony has caused quite some hype but aside from some leaks, there is no confirmation on when will the console release.

Today, website Video Gamer shared some info from a press release from the consumer technology distributor Innelec Multimedia in which some confidential information about the PlayStation 4 has accidentally leaked.

According to the info, the PlayStation Neo (this is what the new PS4 is called by insiders at Sony) will release for consumers somewhere in April and September this year.

This information could indeed be true, as the possible release time of the new console is somewhere around 4.5 months from now. April can be ruled out, as it has already past. Excluding April, we got May, June, July, August and September to look at for the release of the PlayStation Neo.

This seems appropriate, as Sony could release the PlayStation Neo before the release of the PlayStation VR. The company has already revealed that its going to release the PlayStation VR in October 2016.

However, the the press release distribution company Innelec Multimedia has gone counteroffensive by saying:

“Innelec denies any official information about the launch of the PS4K Neo. It is possible that during 2016/2017 fiscal developments exist on the current PS4 [but] for the moment we have no information about the nature of them.”

This could be a cover-up the company is trying to do after accidentally leaking information about the PS4 Neo.

So yeah, this is also one of many rumors about the release date of the PS4 Neo. You’re looking at the release of the console somewhere after June. Sony could possibly reveal more information about the new PlayStation at E3 2016. Possibilities are endless, whatever happens, time will tell. So just sit back and wait.

Asus’s Zenfone 3 teased lineup may be among the most beautiful smartphones of 2016

Well… well… well…., what do we have here? Asus have dropped our jaws at their latest tease on Asus Malaysia’s Youtube Channel. The phone seems to be correct as the leaked designs were published a few months. When we saw the leaks, we weren’t impressed since we were thinking Asus will stick with their design that they brag all about. Anyways, now that its official, the phone really seems to look very attractive. They still haven’t actually showed the phone exactly in their teaser but its set to be shown at Computex 2016, next month.

At the end of the video we could see that Asus has now opted for a flat back with metal rails for the sides in the 3 phones here. From our speculation, the sizes of the phones seem to be ranging from 4.7 inches to 5.5 inches. Moreover, we could also see that in 2 of the larger phones, there’s a laser sensor included with the classy volume locker on the back of the smallest and largest phone!

The phone also seems to sport Dual-SIM cards along with a textured power button. Good work here after all the criticism Asus got with their Zenfone earlier!

A company that is crowd-funded is developing cartridges that support modern smartphones (Android and iOS). It’s bringing back the retro way of playing games. If you’re not big on digital gaming, these cartridges might be for you.

Pico Cassettes, the company that is making these cartridges, are crowd-funded and they’re bringing back the old classical way of playing games through cartridges. They’ve released their first game cartridge. They’ve found a way to release games without going through app stores.

The cartridge connects to your iOS/Android device through the 3.5mm headphone jack. And obviously, the cartridge is for small/retro games only. So don’t expect something like Real Racing 3 on a cartridge.

The cassettes aree plug-and-play, just like the old ’90s era. Pico Cassettes is going to bring this to the digital era, by developing cartridges for modern smartphones like the iOS and Android devices.

The company has released its first cartridge game, named Ninja JaJaMaru-kun, which is an old NES game. Pico Cassettes have raised more than $30,000 with two months remaining, they’re set to announce more games and widen the variety available in the Pico Cassettes.

Right now, their game, Ninja JaJaMaru-kun is selling on a Japanese website for about $45 USD (converted from Japanese Yen). The price is quite high, but remember, this is their first cartridge. The price is expected to drop to about $28 USD (again converted from Japanese Yen), once more game cartridges are out.

Microsoft isn’t getting much out of its Windows Phones. There was a speculation that the company is selling its phone business for Foxconn, which turned out to be true. Microsoft has sold its feature phone business to Foxconn.

In a press release, there was no talks of a new Lumia phones, which could mean that there isn’t a new Lumia in the works.

“Microsoft will continue to develop Windows 10 Mobile and support Lumia phones such as the Lumia 650, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, and phones from OEM partners like Acer, Alcatel, HP, Trinity and VAIO. ”
– Microsoft.

The above statement clearly doesn’t say anything about a new Lumia phone. It only states that the existing Lumia phones are going to be continually developed. Also, a leaked internal memo from Terry Myerson (Windows Chief) said that Microsoft was committed to Windows 10 phones, but the press didn’t say anything about a new Lumia phone. It seems like the Lumia could be over.

Google’s popular navigation app Waze is testing its new Carpooling service in San Francisco. The company is going to release ‘Waze Rider’ application through which 25,000 people will be connected in the Bay area. People who are interested in carpooling will join this new Waze app and it will help them to travel together.

Approximately, you’ll have to pay $0.54 per mile, in a carpool. You pay the driver.

Companies like Walmart eCommerce and Adobe are also taking part in the trial, along with University of California (San Francisco).

There are a number of people who want to experience an RPG game in first-person mode. Dark Souls 3 isn’t meant to be played in First-Person mode, but thanks to this mod, now you can enjoy the fantasy RPG game in first-person mode for an amazing experience. After developing first-person mods for Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2, the modders have done it again. A fully working first-person mod for the latest title in the Dark Soul series, the Dark Souls 3.

The mod is made by “Zulliethewitch”, who is the guy behind the first-person mods for the original Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. Surprisingly, the game looks very good in first-person mode, and the weapon animations and general game-play is better than expected.

The mod is not perfect, but as the game is not meant to be played in first-person mode, this mod works really well.

Xbox Live Price Going to Increase In Some Countries

It is confirmed that Microsoft is going to increase the price of Xbox Live in some countries. Microsoft revealed to Game Informer that they’re bumping up the price of their Xbox Live service in some countries. These include  Israel, South Africa, Hungary, Sweden, Turkey and Austria. The price of the Xbox Live service is going to increase in these countries soon in near future.

A South African Reader revealed this to Game Informer through an E-mail, which stated that would triple from R150 to R159 (from $3.25 USD to about $10.32 USD).

Microsoft has confirmed this with the following statement:

“We occasionally update pricing in a given market to provide a balance of service and value, and in some instances, meet currency fluctuations within the region, and will be adjusting the price of Xbox Live Gold subscription in a small number of markets on June 20, 2016. We do so always keeping in mind that our goal is to offer our members the premium gaming and entertainment service at a fair price.”

The prices of Hungary, Israel, Sweden, Austria and Turkey are not revealed yet. However, the price of Austria seems a bit confusing. As the currency of the country is Euros, it should be charged €6.99 regardless of its VAT (value added tax), as all countries in the European Union are charged €6.99 regardless of their VAT (same case with Austria).

Game Informer also asked for more details about the pricing in Austria, it received the following reply:

“We believe this model suits the way our fans want to pay for Xbox Live Gold memberships in Austria. We are always listening to customer feedback, but have nothing to share about other markets at this time.”

Apple recently released their new iOS 9.3.2 update which included various bug fixes. Just a day later after the update was live, a big new problem has emerged on the Internet. This new update unfortunately bricks the 9.7″ iPad Pro. According to the user’s reports, they’re experiencing the “Error 56”, which is an error regarding hardware. This error tells them to connect their device to iTunes, but sadly, that doesn’t work.

Currently, there is no fix for this. So if your iPad Pro is bricked by this, you’ll have to wait for an update from Apple. Also, those who have iPad Pro, we recommend not upgrading to the iOS 9.3.2 yet, as it may brick your device too. Wait for an official update that will fix the issue, then upgrade. Ciao!

The Producers Have Plans for Two Sequels of Assassin’s Creed Movie

The Assassin’s Creed Movie is coming soon in December, but the producers already have plans for sequels too. The producer and actor in the movie, Micheal Fassbender has revealed that the crew has started to work on a sequel of the Assassin’s Creed movie too. On top of that, he also revealed that the crew has ideas for another sequel too.

“It’s not a one-off. Everybody expects that this movie will continue”
– Executive Producer Pat Crowley, Assassin’s Creed Movie.

In March, it was also reported that Micheal Fassbender is going to return for a sequel of the movie, if it were to happen. And director Justin Kurzel would also come back, along with a number of key production partners.

Whether Assassin’s Creed Movie is going to have a sequel or not, is going to be determined on how well the original Assassin’s Creed movie goes. And if it goes well, then it is likely that we’re going to get a sequel. Also, the Executive Producer said that the movie isn’t going to feature game characters. So that’s something new.

The Assassin’s Creed Movie is going to release on December 21, 2016. We will see how awesome is the AC Movie when it releases. Till then, we’ll just have to sit back and wait.

Apple is making the new iPhone for 2016. If they’re going to release it in the same time of the year as previous iPhones, then we can say that the iPhone 7 is going to come in the coming 4-5 months.

Although reports suggested that the iPhone is going to feature dual-cameras, the first live image of the phone shows a single camera 4.7″ smartphone. Judging from the size, if this photo is true, then this is probably a stock iPhone 7. Apple may differentiate the stock iPhone 7 with the iPhone 7 Plus by using dual-cameras in the bigger variant, and possibly some internal hardware changes too.

This is a leaked image, so we suggest that you take it with a grain of salt. We will see more details about the iPhone 7 as time goes by, so just sit back, relax and wait.

We all are familiar with Assassin’s Creed gaming series. The credits goes to Ubisoft, the creators of the Assassin’s Creed for its game play, different civilizations and the wars between the Templars and Assassins in all of its series. Now one of the most successful games of all time is going to be the best video game movie.

Director Justin Kurzel and his cast of the movie are talented and hard workers. Assassin’s creed movie can be interesting than the movies like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. These movies were not very successful because of its source material which offered very little story work with the original games.

Assassin’s Creed will be the best fantasy adventure Sci-fi movie in which hero Michael Fassbender will travel back to time using time machine Animus (as featured in the game) and discover his ancestor’s secret deadly secret society “Assassins”. Nokia started the dominant mobile business before Samsung and Apple were the big telecommunication industries in history. If we compare the stats of Nokia sales with Samsung sales in 2012, Nokia had sales of 83 million handsets in 2012 whereas Samsung has 92 million. There are a number of reasons where Nokia made mistakes after mistakes and decline of 14 year dominant telecommunication industry started.

Nokia Phones’ OS Was Too Slow:

Nokia introduced its Symbian 60 OS in 2002 which had made little bit marketing but after 5 years Apple introduced the iOS with touch smartphones which totally changed the way we use smartphones. Nokia was a bit slow to compete with iPhone to satisfy its consumers. Symbian mobiles were slower than Apple iOS devices. With new OS in the market, Android was the last nail stabbed into the coffin of Symbian OS.

People’s demands changed tremendously fast to pocket mini-computers than smartphones with only WAP browsers. Nokia should’ve responded quicker but it took them four years to change their OS to Windows. On the other hand, Samsung took less time to move into the smartphone market and snatched the lead from Nokia.

Android OS Paid Off For Samsung:

Samsung chose Android OS to be the main operating system of its devices which worked very well. It had been too late for Nokia to get the flagship of Lumia Windows Phones as company spent time working on old Symbian OS. In this time Samsung already took the lead in marketing.

Nokia Gone Far Behind:

Nokia fell much behind and even mediocre companies like Huawei, HTC and ZTE Chinese Manufacturers were coming for Nokia fast. These fast-growing mobile industries were a big threat to Nokia.

Execution is The Key:

With every passing year, Samsung shines brighter in the marketing industry than Nokia. Samsung made a game plan by introducing the Galaxy S series. Each year Samsung introduced its new Galaxy S series smartphones. They knew how to progress in smartphone industry and their game worked. Even Samsung introduced its low range smartphones for consumers who can’t afford more than $200 smartphones. Nokia made ownership with Microsoft to build Windows Phone which will take years to compete with Android. But that doesn’t mean Windows Phones will not be successful. The Company faced hard times trying to lower its expenditures.

Nokia As Brand Was Over:

In 2014, Microsoft bought Nokia devices and its services in $7.2 billion. Nokia was no more a brand name. Windows Phones now a days have Microsoft as their brand name.

So yeah, that’s how Nokia failed as a company. Recently, reports have been emerging that Microsoft is planning to sell its smartphone division to Foxconn too. If that’s true, then that just leaves Android and iOS behind. Windows Phone will be gone unless Foxconn does something that sparks the interest of the consumers.

Sony is Not Revealing the new PlayStation At E3 2016

Sony is planning to launch a new 4K/VR capable console. The name of the console isn’t known yet, but it could be PS4 Neo, PS4.5, PS4K, etc. According to a game industry insider, the new console from Sony will be revealed at the Paris Games Week trade show, not at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016.

Although there are a number of rumored release dates, this one is the latest. In a recent podcast, Shinobi said:

I’ve heard that Sony will announce the PS4 Neo at Paris Games Week. This made sense to me because the supposed upgrades are coming in what, October? I would have said this publicly if I was 100% sure, but it’s just what I was told.

The new PlayStation will feature overhauled hardware and it will be capable of delivering performance in 4K resolution. It may also feature Virtual Reality support, as it is rapidly growing in trend.

Microsoft’s Counter to PS4 Neo – The Xbox Two

Sony is developing a 4K capable console, the PS4 Neo. Which is going to be possibly releasing in 2016. So, to keep up with Sony, Microsoft is possibly making the Xbox Two, which is also a 4K/VR capable console.

What does Phil Spencer has to say about the Xbox Two?

Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft’s Xbox Division, has confirmed that a new Xbox will indeed come. He hasn’t talked about what the Xbox Two will have to offer, but he did spice up the fans by saying that he respects the feelings of Xbox Console customers and he won’t let them down.

It is also possible that the Xbox Two will arrive before PlayStation. This strategy has worked for Microsoft in the Xbox 360 days too, as the 360 arrived almost a year earlier than its Sony rival, it gained huge success.

4K/VR Capability:

This is expected. To compete with the PS4 Neo and the PC, the Xbox Two is going to offer 4K gaming experience. However, VR is a possibility. As the coming years are going to be big for VR, if the Xbox Two comes in the time when VR is at peak, it could feature VR capability too. This could take the console from the ground to the skies.

Better hardware and backwards compatible:

The Xbox Two is going to be a major overhaul of the Xbox One. It is going to be using an AMD chipset so it is going to be compatible with Xbox One games out of the box. Reports suggest that the Xbox Two is going to have 10 TFLOPs of computing performance.

Connection with PCs (Windows 10):

The Xbox Two may have some technology with which it can be paired with a Windows 10 PC. This can give the Xbox Two some good flexibility and features.

SSD Support:

The Xbox Two could feature a Solid State Drive (SSD) too, for very fast loading times. All this will be done while maintaining the sleek look and form-factor of the Xbox consoles.

What about Xbox 1.5?

No. Although there are reports indicating the existence of a PlayStation 4.5, the Xbox 1.5 isn’t going to come. The company has shown no interest in Xbox 1.5. So, it is going to be a full major console, the Xbox Two.

This sounds like something straight out of a Mission Impossible movie, however it is true. Two technological giants, Sony and Google, have filed patents to develop a camera that is going to fit in your eyes. This camera can record videos and capture images.

Sony filed a patent for a camera lens that will start recording when you blink your eyes in a specific pattern.

While on the other hand, Google is skipping the whole wearable concept. Google will develop an eye implant that will be injected in your eye using medical procedures. The Google’s eye implant can give you the option to preview any moment happened in the past. It can also have features like live broadcasting, NFC, GPS, LTE, etc.

But yeah, as you guessed, there are drawbacks of this and some advantages too.

Like, if you want to secretly record something (spy), this thing is a must-have for you. It is also good for people who don’t want holding a camera around. But yeah, the drawbacks are bigger than its applications.

Airports, stadiums and other high-security places will have people who will check your eye for possible cameras, if they don’t allow recording inside.

Sony’s patent seems pretty reasonable. As it is wearable. But Google’s eye implant is insane, like sometimes if you have to take it off, you can’t. Also, if these eye implants/camera lens have Wi-Fi or the ability to go online, they can secretly spy on you. They will know when you leave for work or what are you doing at a specific moment. So yes, it does effect privacy.

Sony Xperia X and X Performance Have Only 20GB Usable Memory Out of 32GB

Well, we all know that manufacturers always play with the numbers. Like, if a phone is advertised to have 32 Gigabytes of memory, that’s not the actual memory the user is going to get. Some of the memory will be reserved for the system so the actual usable memory the user gets is a lot less than the memory advertised.

A petition was also signed to get rid of this problem, but nothing has been done.

The same case is here with the Sony’s upcoming flagship Xperia X and Xperia X Performance phones. But the situation is pretty bad here, as in the 32GB variant, the user is going to get only 20GB usable memory. That’s almost 12GB reserved for the system!

Our guess is that the Sony Xperia X and X Performance are going to contain a lot of bloatware, as just the Android system doesn’t take 12GB space.

The Sony Xperia X and X Performance were announced back in February, they will go on sale soon.
