A Multiverse Of Witches Collide In New Bayonetta 3 Story Trailer, Details

The latest Bayonetta 3 trailer focuses on the Multiverse, showcasing a wide range of alternate Bayonettas that the player will encounter. A new story-focused preview for Bayonetta 3 focuses on the game’s multiverse, which includes different variations of Bayonetta herself.

As the game’s release date approaches, Nintendo as well as PlatinumGames have been showcasing a great deal of the titles. It also includes new details such as Bayonetta’s recasting or the Umbra witch’s gameplay mechanics. With the game only a few weeks away, this new trailer reveals more about the multiverse setup.

The multiverse in Bayonetta 3 has been a widely speculated premise since its re-reveal the year before, with details and trailers this year revealing the looks of multiple Bayonetta’s. This latest trailer appears to back up this theory, as multiple variations of the umbra witch are shown throughout, with the video’s title sometimes stating “Bayonettas Everywhere?!”

This Bayonetta 3 trailer begins on a depressing note, with a Bayonetta who resembles her first appearance being killed by an unknown figure, shattering into the red crystals as she says the young Viola to leave. This enigmatic figure then attacks the present-day Bayonetta, who notices the being is otherworldly. Several characters, including Jeanne and Viola, notice this figure’s name as Singularity.

The trailer then goes wild with the variants on display, with one Bayonetta having to wear a flashy white coat with pink hair and forming a bond with a spider demon called Phantasmaraneae. This spider design is carried over into Bayonetta 3 gameplay, where she can swing about using a web-like chain and attack with her eight legs during her Masquerade transformations.

Other variants include a Bayonetta who appears to be a Lumen Sage, finished with Angelic summons, as well as a stylish blonde Bayonetta wearing a fancy blue hat and mask. This trailer appears to be establishing them as potential bosses this same player will face.

Bayonetta is not the only Umbra Witch who gains some attention in this trailer; newcomer Viola also gets some attention. It also would include her goal of pursuing the Singularity into the Alphaverse, along with mentioning the Chaos Gears, a mysterious object that could stop him.

The trailer also includes snippets of her bosses as well as levels from the game, such as traversing a firey lava landscape with Luka. The trailer ends with a segment featuring Jeanne as a playable character, with her gameplay resembling a 2D-sidescroller of stealth mechanics.

On October 28, 2022, Bayonetta 3 will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
