In Netflix’s Stranger Things, Dustin Henderson, played by Gaten Matarazzo, has always been seen as more of a humorous figure. Season four brought about a transformation, though, as Dustin became considerably more complex and attuned to his emotional side, which wasn’t a coincidence.
Speaking about his character in the fourth season, Matarazzo told TV Insider that a more emotional Dustin wasn’t necessarily a new thing, but it definitely didn’t surface as much as it did in the second half of the season when Dustin dealt with Eddie Munson’s (Joseph Quinn) passing and the subsequent conversation Henderson has with Munson’s uncle.
Matarazzo remarked of his character’s emotional aspect, “It’s not necessarily new.” “It’s the first time anything like that has been able to emerge.” You can’t cover your emotions with jokes anymore. “Did you know?”
It’s unclear what the future holds for Dustin and his buddies in the final season of Stranger Things. However, as the characters develop, fans should expect even heavier and more dramatic scenes in the fifth season.

Dustin Henderson, played by Gaten Matarazzo in Netflix’s Stranger Things, has always been known as a more humorous character. Things changed in season four, with Dustin becoming much more nuanced and connected to his emotional side, which was not by chance.
Matarazzo told TV Insider that a more emotional Dustin wasn’t necessarily a new thing in the fourth season, but it definitely didn’t come to the surface as much as it did in the latter half of the season, which saw Dustin dealing with Eddie Munson’s (Joseph Quinn) death and Henderson’s subsequent conversation with Munson’s uncle.
Let’s face it: Dustin Henderson and Steve Harrington, played with adorable glee by Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery, are two characters in Stranger Things that are a unanimous favourite among ardent fans. Interestingly, many fans of Stranger Things would agree that the best relationship in the series is the odd bromance created between Dustin and Steve in Season 2, which continues in Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 (and 3! ), complete with their bickering equation!
