MTV announced on November 27, 2017, that the ensemble (excluding Sammi Giancola) would be returning to Miami, Florida for a new reunion season called Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. On April 5, 2018, the series launched in approximately 180 countries around the world.
The majority of the filming took place in Miami, with other locations in New Jersey, Staten Island, and Las Vegas. A vacation to Resorts World Bimini in the Bahamas was also included this season. A second season was ordered on February 28, 2018, just days before the series premiered. MTV renewed the series for a third season on December 13, 2018, and it premiered on August 22, 2019.
The series was extended for a fourth season on June 25, 2020, and aired on November 19, 2020. MTV renewed the show for a fifth season on September 2, 2021, with Snooki as a key cast member. The season began on January 6, 2022, and ended on January 6, 2023. The first half of Season 5 was shot in New Jersey and Las Vegas, as well as in Los Angeles, California, and at the Isla Bella Beach Resort in the Florida Keys. Shortly after the holidays, shooting for the second half of this season five continued, with the actors spotted in El Paso, Texas, and afterward in San Diego, California.
