Loki is an American television series based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name, produced by Michael Waldron for the Disney+ streaming service. It is Marvel Studios’ third television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it follows the events of the films in the franchise. The series picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which an alternate version of Loki rewrote history. In the first season, Waldron served as head writer and Kate Herron directed, while in the second season, Eric Martin and the duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead served as head writer and led the directorial team, respectively.
It’s been over a year since the premiere of Marvel Studios’ third Disney+ series. Tom Hiddleston reprised his role as Loki, alongside Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, and Jonathan Majors as a special guest. The show was a multiverse-opening, time-traveling adventure on guilt, shape, and self-healing. It’s complicated, but it’s also one of the most popular Disney+ Marvel shows to date.
The six-part series came to a close with an unnerving, mind-bending finale that begs for a second season. It’s anyone’s guess how the second season will turn out, but the first was a smash hit thanks to lead writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron. For season two, neither of them will return in the same capacity.
Despite having been a year since the show was streamed, it is eligible for the 2022 Emmy Awards. Although there are not a lot of front-runners, Disney is already preparing for a big awards season push.
Before the 2022 Emmy Awards, Disney has officially started its award campaign for Loki. Several acting awards are being considered for Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Jonathan Majors, Sophia Di Martino, and Richard E. Grant. Michael Waldron, Kate Herron, and Natalie Holt, among others, are being pushed for nominations.
There have been 23 separate categories submitted for consideration.
Is Loki going to win Emmy?
Loki’s chances of winning any major prizes are little to none. Loki is only a “chance” for “Greatest Drama Collection,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Stranger Issues, Succession, and Squid Recreation are the front-runners in that category. THR does not rank any actors as front-runners, threats, or potential.
Loki, on the other hand, might have a chance for a technical award for stunts, special effects, altering, or composing.
Marvel Studios is a newcomer to the television awards season, but with the high-profile new series it’s releasing, its presence will undoubtedly be felt at the ceremony.
Disney+ has a history of pushing for accolades in all of its collections. These films, like Marvel’s Oscar triumphs, are unlikely to win any of the major acting, directing, or general honours.
