Euphoria Season 3: An HBO Executive Discusses the Show’s Final Season with Sydney Sweeney?

HBO’s Chief Content Officer, Casey Bloys, discusses if the blockbuster adolescent drama Euphoria’s third season will be the final one.

Casey Bloys, HBO’s Chief Content Officer, has commented on whether Season 3 of Euphoria will be the series’ final season. The executive, who has worked on several popular series for the network, including The White Lotus, The Flight Attendant, and I May Destroy You, has previously stated that the drama will have a limited run. Euphoria, a drama series about a group of troubled high school kids, has just gotten a third season renewal.

An HBO Executive Discusses Season 3 of Euphoria

With 13.1 million viewers tuning in for the Season 2 premiere in January, Euphoria, an HBO and A24 co-production, has a significant following among young people. Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie, all of whom have become household names, particularly among online viewers, co-star with Zendaya, who also acts as the narrator in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

With more than double the number of followers as Netflix’s All of Us Are Dead, Euphoria is the most popular program on Twitter. Part of the show’s success is its relatability, which stems in part from the principal cast’s youth, with most of them in their twenties.

Blogs previously said that he wants young people to represent youthful characters and that he doesn’t think the public wants “30-year-olds portraying teens” in his previous pronouncements regarding the potential amount of seasons for Euphoria.

Bloys has confirmed that Season 3 of Euphoria will be the series’ final season. HBO will take a hands-off approach, relying on the producers and cast to take the characters where they want to go, according to him. He went on to declare that the creative team will “lead the way.”

Given the positive response to the show and the current level of hype surrounding Zendaya, HBO would be foolish to publicly state that future seasons will be limited, especially since the actress’ net worth has recently skyrocketed thanks to roles in both No Way Home and Denis Villeneuve’s mega-hit Dune.

It’s no wonder, therefore, that Bloys considers her to be one of the most crucial considerations when selecting whether or not to invest.

Bloys counts her as one of the major criteria in selecting whether or not to continue the third season, noting that “it’s hard to picture doing the program without her,” but that she and the production team should address it. Bloys, on the other hand, was eager to announce Zendaya’s participation in the third season.

Only time will tell if Euphoria gets a third season. The hands-off attitude is welcome in the often-corporatized world of television, but if the next season is as successful as this one, HBO’s penny pushers will be begging to keep the money train flowing. Meanwhile, there are two more episodes of Season 2 of Euphoria to watch.
