The Boys season 3 episode 4 is due to premiere on Amazon later this week, and we have a lot of questions! None of these, however, are more important than our internal argument about what will happen to Starlight.
Annie did what might be the most extreme example of someone taking one for the team at the end of this episode. Accepting the possibility of being with Homelander sounds like the worst fate possible; nonetheless, she is forced to pretend to be with him. Hughie is bound to have some thoughts on the subject, but that’s the least of her worries right now.
How much longer can she go on like this? We expect this to be a major plot point in episode 4 and beyond, regardless of how long the story continues. She recognizes his evil, but she also believes Hughie and the Boys are striving to put a stop to it. When you’re confined, it’s difficult to be patient.
This might be the season in which Starlight reaches her breaking point, or it could be the season in which she emerges as the show’s most powerful character. Given her immense popularity, her powers, and Homelander’s continuous fall as he becomes more public, she has a lot going for her right now. He’s a threat, but will she be able to stop him entirely on her own? She is, by far, the most intriguing character on the show. We’ll have to wait and see where that leads her.
Hughie confronts Butcher about his use of the temporary Compound V in Episode 4 of The Boys Season 3. The others are obviously unaware, and Butcher dismisses the whole thing as a means of gathering information. As planned, Frenchie and Butcher arrive to see Nina. He gives her enough money to pay off her bills, but she wants more. Butcher tries to find a middle ground.

Meanwhile, Stan Edgar approaches Neuman and suggests that they pursue Homelander. Homelander is still terrified of Edgar, according to Edgar, and he’s all “bark with no bite.”
Homelander arrives to see how Starlight is doing while she is speaking with Hughie. Another tense confrontation follows, with Starlight eventually departing with him after Homelander signs Hughie’s cast.
Starlight is placed in a tough situation, prompting her to seek advice from Maeve. It’s at this point that Maeve reveals that she was the one that led Butcher and the group down the Compound V rabbit hole.
Maeve also admits that she is to blame for the flight’s condition. She isn’t afraid to die for this cause, and she is determined to bring Homelander down no matter what it takes. Starlight also enlists the support of Supersonic, who leaps into the fray and agrees to assist her.
