Smith portrays Peter, a slave who attempts to flee slavery and travels through Louisiana to escape the plantation owners who nearly killed him.
The King Richard star shared his opinions of the movie with his industry friends as he walked the red carpet for Emancipation earlier this week. He began by describing Rihanna’s response to E! News.

What effect the delicate movie will have on ticket sales and, more crucially, on people’s thinking, is still to be seen. Will it rid him of his past transgressions? Time will only tell.
