For the uninitiated, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland are the parents of Markle. She is a woman of color because she was born to an African-American mother and a Caucasian father.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started dating, things really changed!

Back in August this year, the mother of two sat in a discussion with Mariah Carey in the second episode of the digital recording, named The Duality of Diva. She talked about how she was treated differently when she started dating the Duke of Sussex in 2016 on the podcast.

She stated, “I think for us, it is so different because we are light-skinned,” at one point in the podcast. You’re not treated as a Person of color. You are treated differently than a white woman. You sort of fall in the middle.

She went on to say that “if there was ever a time in my life when it was more focused on my race, it was only when I started dating my husband.”

Then I began to comprehend what it was like to be treated as a Black woman; since, up to that point, I had been dealt with like a blended lady. She also informed the singer that “things really shifted.”

The British royal member, who was born in the United States, has frequently been the target of racial discrimination, which the couple has discussed in their docuseries.
