Sonic Frontier Was the First Game to Integrate Skill Trees Into a Sonic Game.

The recentĀ  Sonic Frontier clip exposes combat, skill trees, the Upgrade ade system, Parry, combo attacks, and much more to avoid from getting killed by enemies.

Featuring a new combat system

This game allows you to fight strategically. Featuring a new combat system and skill tree upgrades.

Combine moves like dodge, parry, counter, and combo with the new Cyloop ability to take down enemies and Titans.

Sonic Frontier is the first game to integrate skill trees into a Sonic game.

Not only does it unlock powerful new abilities that can be unlocked by collecting enough skill pieces from fallen enemies, but it also unlocks fragile items on the island (thanks Gematsu).

Sonic’s standard moves such as Homing Attack, Drop Dash, and Stomp are available early in the game.

Effective against normal enemies, but you’ll need to level up and learn new skills to face stronger enemies.

For the latter, collect as many Power Red Seeds and Defense Blue Seeds as possible to boost your stats.

As you progress through the game and level up, your enemies will also level up. Combos are great for gaining the upper hand in combat and are even more effective when combined with the new Phantom’s rush skill.

Consecutively attacking enemies fills the combo meter, and when it reaches the limit, Phantom Rush is activated. This increases attack power until the counter reaches zero.

For even more damage, you can use the Sonic Boom, a long-range, high-speed kick that creates shockwaves in short bursts.

Already one of his moves, Wild Rush, creates a zigzag attack that slams Sonic into a target with great force.

You can also parry enemy movements, giving you visual cues that an enemy is about to attack

If you react quickly enough, you can parry and proceed to counterattack.

Unlock new abilities in the skill tree.

When you access these late-game skills, defeated enemies drop items called “skill pieces”. Collect these to unlock new abilities in the skill tree.

→  One player learns that facing the hardest double monster in the Elden Ring, the Godskin Duo boss room, alone might be just as deadly.

Skill parts can also be found in breakable containers hidden throughout the game world, encouraging you to explore every corner of the game.

It all sounds like Sonic Frontiers. That means bowing to popular conventions in ways that seem at odds with the series’ core identity.

Mollie felt the same way when he tried the game earlier this month, stating “Sonic Frontiers doesn’t require all games to feature a massive open-world format.
