Kevin McKidd, well known for his role as fan favorite Owen Hunt, appears to have an uncertain future. He just joined the cast of ITV criminal thriller Six Four (via Variety), raising concerns that he may not have time to return to the medical drama in a regular role, though no formal announcements have been made.

Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy will premiere in the autumn on ABC. The new season’s premiere date has yet to be announced. Fans can still schedule their Thursday nights to catch new episodes, though. Grey’s Anatomy will show at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, following Station 19 at 8 p.m. ET, according to Deadline.
While it’s exciting to see so many familiar faces return to the show, it’s difficult to predict how long Ellen will stay on. While she isn’t sure how Meredith’s tenure on the program will end, she told Insider in December 2021 that she hopes it will happen soon.
“I’ve been trying to convince everyone that it should end,” the Grey’s Anatomy star told the outlet. “I keep thinking to myself, ‘But what’s the story going to be? What story are we going to tell?” Who cares, Ellen? ‘everyone thinks. It brings in a ton of cash.’
Is Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy the show’s final season?
This is a question that not even ABC knows the answer to. ABC Entertainment President Craig Erwich told Deadline in May 2022 that no final decisions about the show’s future had been made. He told the newspaper, “We haven’t made any decisions at all.” “We recently celebrated Grey’s 400th episode, which is a significant milestone for any show.”
In other words, if an ending is in the works, ABC and Shondaland aren’t letting us know just yet.
