Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon Swap Seats in a Hilarious April Fools’ Joke

In a joke that took years to plot, the ABC and NBC host cross-network streams.

When late-night television viewers turned in to The Tonight Show Featuring Jimmy Fallon or Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday night, both of which happened to fall on April Fools’ Day, they were in for a real treat.

Despite working in diverse networks, living 3,000 miles apart, and being competitors, the two amiable hosts pulled off an incredible switcheroo, teaming up despite working on different networks, living 3,000 miles apart, and being competitors.

Jimmy Kimmel, who taps his show at the El Capitan Entertainment Centre in Hollywood, made an appearance in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, where the live audience was expecting to see Jimmy Fallon.

He talked about how he and his colleague are frequently mistaken for one another in his opening speech, then cut to a pre-recorded scene of the two of them. The icing on the cake was a visit by David Letterman, who told them both to buzz off.

“You’re going to upset the other Jimmy,” Fallon said as the crowd erupted in cheers as he came out to thunderous acclaim in Hollywood. After describing their humour, he confessed that this was “a distant second” to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during the Oscars for surprises on ABC this week.

The two Jimmys interacted live after some yuks about being on “a Disney network,” and instantly began flinging zings.

“When I walked out, a large portion of your audience almost left,” Kimmel joked to Fallon.

Fallon then released footage of viewers expecting to meet only one Jimmy but being startled when both Jimmys appeared. (Unfortunately, no one said, “I’m seeing double: four Jimmys!”)

Hugh Jackman and Bridget Everett were among Kimmel’s New York guests (or, if you want to get philosophical about it, Fallon’s guests). Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Kimmel’s Aunt Chippy were among Fallon’s Los Angeles guests.

Fallon’s fictional enemy, Matt Damon, was played by Timberlake, who added to the confusion. There were a lot of Dunkin’ jokes.

“There’s no end, it never ends,” Aunt Chippy said of her nephew’s antics when she came out, unknowing of the swap.

Kimmel and Fallon said they first came up with the concept in April 2020.

The fact that Red Hot Chili Peppers were the musical guests on both occasions is perhaps the most perplexing aspect of this hoax.

The band performed “These Are The Ways” on the roof of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, presented by Jimmy Fallon. They sang “Black Summer” at the New York studio on Jimmy Kimmel’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. How did they manage to accomplish this? Not all of the universe’s mysteries were meant to be known!
