Jada Pinkett Smith Seemingly Laughed After Will Smith Slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, According to New Footage Taken From the Audience

New footage from the Oscars has surfaced online, showing Jada Pinkett Smith’s reaction to her husband Will Smith smacking Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars.

Chris, who was onstage presenting the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature, took a chance to crack a few jokes. “Jada, I love ya,” the comic said, pointing to Jada, who was sat in the front row with Will and actor Lupita Nyong’o. “I can’t wait to watch G.I. Jane 2” — a reference to the main character in G.I. Jane, who also had a shaved head.

Chris was apparently unaware that Jada had been diagnosed with alopecia, a type of hair loss caused by a medical illness. When the comedian made a joke about her shorn head, Jada rolled her eyes and appeared unhappy.

Will, on the other hand, appeared to be laughing at Chris’s joke at first. He did a 180 and walked onstage to open-handedly strike Chris across the face a split second later.

“Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, Wow. Chris said, “Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me,” which drew chuckles from the audience.

Will, on the other hand, stunned the audience when he returned to his seat and exclaimed, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!”
The coverage of the event did not include Jada’s immediate response to the slap or any prior interaction with Will.

However, a new video from that incident has surfaced online, showing Jada laughing after Will slaps Chris.

“Here’s a viewpoint most people haven’t seen!” says the now-viral TikTok video, which was posted by actor and comedian Michael Rapaport. Take a look at Jada’s response.”

After Will walks away from Chris, who can be seen and heard in the video, Jada leans forward in a manner that implies she’s laughing, as captured by someone seated behind the duo.

At the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith stormed the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face for making a crude joke about his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock, who was presenting the award for best documentary, made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s short hair, comparing it to Demi Moore’s look in the film “G.I. Jane,” and suggested a sequel.

Jada has alopecia, an auto-immune condition that causes hair loss and bald spots. Will Smith marched over to Rock and smacked him before returning to his seat with Jada and cursing him after awkward stillness and bewilderment in the Dolby Theatre.

“I am so fucking sick of this violent toxic-masculinity crap,” filmmaker Andy Ostroy tweeted. What #WillSmith did was not what a’real guy’ would do…

ChrisRock #Oscar “Repeat after me: it doesn’t matter how disgusting or inappropriate #ChrisRock’s joke was,” he added in another tweet. No one has the authority to harm another person. Never, ever, ever. #Oscar #WillSmith.”

“Just watched the Will Smith slap,” wrote television presenter Conan O’Brien. Is there a late-night show I could borrow for tomorrow?”

The Academy also issued a statement on Twitter, stating that it does not condone violence.
