It’s easy to say that Halo Infinite fans are growing upset with the absence of fresh patches and modes in the game. Both campaign co-op and Forge have been repeatedly delayed, and the game’s community director Brian Jarrard has done his best to assuage the fears of frightened and disgruntled players. Halo Infinite is at a point where it needs to do something significant to keep gamers happy and entice those who have already abandoned the game to return.
A battle royale option could be one way to accomplish this, and recent evidence discovered by a Halo Infinite dataminer implies that one is on the way.
A new game mode titled Last Spartan Standing was spotted alongside a short description from the Halo Infinite Leaks & News Twitter account (thanks, GamesRadar).
“Each Spartan for himself! To be the last Spartan standing, level up your loadout by gaining Personal Score “the description states Although the “Personal Score” referenced sounds like it could have some kind of twist to distinguish it apart from more traditional battle royale titles like Apex Legends or Call of Duty Warzone, it’s quite clear that this refers to a future battle royale mode that 343 Industries is working on. It remains to be seen if this is enough to re-energize the game’s dwindling player base.
In other Halo news, Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber sent out a letter to those rooting for the Halo TV programme to fail. After concerns were raised when a showrunner claimed they “didn’t look at the game” while making the series, Schreiber posted a message on Instagram earlier today telling “the fans rooting against the home team” that he and the rest of the cast will be working hard to make sure the show is “the best version of itself.”
