Being asked about the status of the testing in a recent tweet by YouTube, it has been mentioned that 5.1 audio is already tested and if everything goes smoothly, we can expect the introduction of 5.1 audio in new devices in near future.

With that being said only a few smart TV brands like Samsung, LG and Vizio had access to 5.1 surrounding sound. As for now Google TV, Fire TV and gaming consoles like Play Station 5 have to wait for a little longer to avail of the same on YouTube TV. But as we all know it will be worth the wait.
HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR DEVICE IS COMPATIBLE?
By following these simple steps you can know if your device is compatible or not
- Go to the account settings of your device in which the app is running.
- Under about, select app version
- If you have cobalt version 20 or higher and have paired this with a stereo system that is compatible with 5.1 audio, you are good to go.
