In the Season 2 finale of ‘Euphoria,’ A major character was supposed to die.

Javon Walton, who portrays Ashtray in the smash HBO series Euphoria, has disclosed one of the season two finale’s huge and unexpected rewrites.

The 15-year-old actor had fresh obstacles in the second season of Euphoria, as Ashtray got more aggressive and even brutally murdered two individuals in the rush of the moment. However, his tale came to a tragic end in the season finale when he was involved in a gunfight with a SWAT unit.

Despite Fez’s pleas, Ash refused to surrender, and viewers subsequently heard a shot offscreen followed by the sound of a corpse thudding to the floor.

In an interview with Variety, the actor claimed that this important moment was modified the day before production and that Ashtray wasn’t intended to die in the original version.

When asked about the massive rewrites that this season underwent, Javon remarked on some of the changes that affected his character directly – notably his last moments.

“He became much more aggressive this season since he was younger last season. But as he’s grown older, he’s changed drastically, nearly for the worst “Javon said.

“And Ashtray wasn’t intended to be shot,” he went on to say. “That was something else. He wasn’t intended to be shot at all!”

In actuality, a completely different character was intended to be killed: Ash’s adopted brother, Fezco (Angus Cloud).

“At first, it was going to be Fez who was shot, which is ridiculous,” he said. “And then, like a day before, they altered the plot to my being shot.”

Javon also mentioned that Ash inadvertently killing Fez in the crossfire of his gunfight with the cops was a last-minute addition to the screenplay, saying: “That wasn’t always there, in my opinion. It was kind of written a day before — the whole thing.”

Despite the fact that Ashtray’s death occurred off-screen, causing some fans to believe that he may have lived, Javon stated that his last scene was his “last time on set.”

“It was very sad filming that last scene since I knew it would be my last time on set, which hurts,” Javon added.

“I knew I was going to miss everyone there.” But it was quite strange during the gunfight while I was in the shower because I was getting dust all over me. They had to add the dust to make the bullets flying in appear more genuine. It was both a sad and a happy day. Because I was determined to leave a lasting impression.”

“There is definitely hope that Ashtray is still alive,” he told Variety. “Because if there’s anyone on the show that could take a bullet, it’s Ashtray.” The ashtray is a badass young man. He isn’t fooling around. I feel he has a chance to return for Season 3.”

To be honest, even if Ashtray did miraculously survive a bullet to the head, it wouldn’t be the most bizarre thing that has ever happened on this show.
