BREAKING: Russia seizes Nuclear Plant in Ukraine Hour’s After Attack

According to Ukrainian officials, Russian soldiers captured Europe’s largest nuclear power facility after a building at the site was set ablaze amid a severe battle with Ukrainian defenses.

Before authorities declared the fire in a building designated as a training center had been doused, fears of a probable nuclear accident at the Zaporizhzhia facility had caused anxiety around the world. There was no sign of heightened radiation levels at the plant, which generates more than a fifth of Ukraine’s total energy generation, according to US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

Russian soldiers had occupied the facility, according to a Facebook post by the Ukrainian regional government, and the staff was evaluating the state of the power units to ensure they could run safely. Shelling and smoke rose to near a five-story structure at the facility site, according to a video feed from the factory confirmed by Reuters.

A massive candescent ball lighted up the sky, bursting alongside a car park and sending smoke pouring over the property, according to footage filmed at night, which showed one structure aflame and a salvo of incoming shells.”Please, Europeans, wake up.

Inform your elected officials that Russian forces are firing at a Ukrainian nuclear power facility “In a video message, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked.

According to Zelenskiy, Russian tanks fired at the target. The mayor of Energodar, a small town around 550 kilometers (342 miles) southeast of Kyiv, claimed there had been deaths in the region due to heavy combat and “constant enemy bombardment,” but did not elaborate.

Since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the worst attack on a European state since World War Two last Thursday, tens of thousands of people are thought to have died or been injured, and over one million people have left Ukraine.

Early news of the power plant mishap threw Asian financial markets into a tailspin, with equities plunging and oil prices jumping even higher.”Nuclear fallout is causing concern in the markets. The danger is that a miscalculation or overreaction occurs, prolonging the battle “Vasu Menon, OCBC Bank’s executive director of investment strategy, agreed.

Russia had already taken control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant north of Kyiv, which melted down in 1986 and blasted toxic waste across most of Europe. Analysts claim that the Zaporizhzhia plant is a distinct and safer kind.

The “worst-case scenario,” according to Dr. Graham Allison, a nuclear security specialist at Harvard University, would be if a fire at the facility triggered a meltdown and a leak of radiation that polluted the surrounding region for years. But, rather than attacking the facility, he believes Russian soldiers are attempting to “shut down the flow of energy to the surrounding region.”The plant, which is around 550 kilometers (342 miles) south of Kyiv, produces over a quarter of all power in Ukraine.

The Chernobyl nuclear power facility, the site of the world’s greatest nuclear tragedy, has already been taken over by Russian soldiers. The news of the latest event in Zaporizhzhia sent Asian stock values plummeting.

Since the invasion began last week, almost one million people have left Ukraine. Despite the imposition of harsh international penalties, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated his offensive was “strictly on time and according to plan.”Because of the West’s “aggressive comments,” he has placed his nuclear forces on high alert.

On Friday, Western ministers will meet in Brussels for crisis talks in order to express their support for Ukraine. Allies are preparing to “tighten the vice around Putin’s war machine” by attacking the Russian economy with more sanctions, according to UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
