In an interview, the Creative Director of Destiny 2’s The Witch Queen Expansion reveals fresh gameplay and plot information.
The hype is soaring high as the debut of the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen expansion nears. Fans of Destiny 2 have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new expansion for some time now. The Creative Director of the aforementioned Witch Queen expansion expounded on elements shown in trailers and gave additional information to ignite the flames of Guardians even more.
In an exclusive interview with Game Informer, James Tsai teased more about the upcoming Witch Queen expansion. Bungie has been laying the groundwork for lore-hungry Guardians to learn more about Savathun, the main antagonist of this expansion.
There have been over 1 million pre-orders for The Witch Queen, and more gamers are expected to return or join the New Lights in the weeks and months ahead of the game’s official release. He asserts that this year’s campaign will be a departure from Bungie’s previous efforts.
Tsai says:
We call it the definitive Destiny campaign,” “It’s about bringing some of the awesome grandeur of some of our endgame aspirational feel into the campaign itself. Soaring through these really cool environmental setpieces. Memorable encounters that take a lot of thought and understanding. Bringing puzzles into the campaign for players. There’s a really reinvigorated focus on the campaign in this release”
In addition to the new challenges, Tsai also mentioned that new campaign versions will spawn Legendary armor sets and weapons, as well as maybe even exotics, inside the Throne World area. To prepare for the upcoming raid and hard Nightfall events, Guardians must undertake the Classic as well as Legendary campaign tasks to farm for even more powerful gear and weapons.
Tsai has said that these modes include higher opponent numbers, more layered modifiers, and will also adjust to fireteam size, to provide satisfying experiences whether a Guardian fights solo or with a Fireteam.
In addition to this, Savathun’s Lucent Brood, a new Hive enemy boasting Resurrection and other powers traditionally reserved for Light-bearing Guardians, is poised to permanently alter the Destiny universe. New gameplay features and plot elements like those seen in The Taken King or Forsaken expansions are paving the way for the Witch Queen expansion to take its place as the game’s new all-time high point.
Destiny 2 is available to download and play on Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One with The Witch Queen expansion scheduled to drop on February 22nd.
