It has been revealed that a new Star Wars game is in the works. The CGI video for Star Wars Eclipse was shown at The Game Awards earlier this month. Although the CGI teaser didn’t disclose much about the title, it showed off the High Republic era in which the game is set. The only thing we know about the title officially is that it will allow players to alter the plot through their decisions, which should come as no surprise to anybody who knows the studio behind the game.
With Quantic Dream in charge of its production, the Canadian/French studio has repeatedly put player choice at the heart of its past games, such as Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain. Until further information, this is all we have to go on regarding the game. However, AccNGT, a leaker who famously disclosed photos of the game before it was unveiled, has provided some additional unofficial details about the game.
Here’s everything we know about it.
Star Wars Eclipse Release Date
The official status of Star Wars Eclipse is “early development,” with no set release date. You should probably not anticipate this game to be released for a long time. Claims from Kotaku and DualShockers suggest that the project has been in development for around a year and a half.
Quantic Dream hasn’t publicly revealed this project yet, and modern video games can take five or more years to produce (Detroit: Become Human took around six years to release). There is a good chance that this game will not be released until 2024 or 2025.
Star Wars Eclipse Trailer
Here is the official trailer video
The footage was shown during the Game Awards as part of the Star Wars Eclipse presentation. Quantic has said that the game takes place in the High Republic era, even though most of the plot remains a mystery. Disney has focused on the period when the Jedi were at their pinnacle. Furthermore, the game takes place in the Outer Rim.
Star Wars Eclipse Plot
The official description reads-
“Star Wars Eclipse is the first video game to be set in an uncharted region of the Outer Rim during The High Republic era, known as the golden age of the Jedi. The game will build upon Quantic Dream’s expertise in delivering deeply branching narratives and will go beyond their already established acclaim. The Player’s choices will be at the heart of the experience, as every decision can have a dramatic impact on the course of the story.”
