BTS: No. 1 Band in 2021
BTS, a Korean boy band, is ending the year on a high note, ranking third among the world’s most-streamed acts. Spotify released its list of the year’s most-streamed artists and songs on December 1st, local time.
The band, which includes Jin, Jimin, JungKook, J-hope, RM, V, and SUGA, was the third most-streamed musician across all genres on Spotify in 2021, making them the only Korean artist to crack the top 10.
They placed in third, behind Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift, who were ranked first and second, respectively. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK was named the No. 1 most listened female group in the world for three years in a row on the app. The girls also set a new YouTube record by becoming the most-followed band, having 70 million subscribers.
Who Else Is On The List?
With evermore at the start of the year and two re-recorded albums, Fearless and Red (Taylor’s Version), due out in mid and late 2021, it’s no surprise that Taylor Swift was the second most-streamed artist on Spotify Global and rated #1 among all female musicians.
Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, and the female rookie Olivia Rodrigo are among the remaining names in the Top 10 most played artists on Spotify internationally in 2021. Olivia Rodrigo, the “monster rookie,” made an impressive debut in 2021. With over 1.1 billion streams, driver’s license is the most played song on Spotify this year.
Numbers two and three go to Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Stay by The Kid Laroi ft. Justin Bieber, respectively. Olivia’s fourth-place finish is another record-breaking smash – fantastic for you.
In 2021, Gen Z artists will undoubtedly demonstrate their dominance. Dua Lipa had a spectacular year in 2021 as numerous songs from her album Future Nostalgia became viral on social media, including Levitating and Love Again. As a result, Dua Lipa’s album was the second most played on Spotify. Justin Bieber’s Justice is ranked third.
