Moderna COVID Vaccine Booster Rules Changed: Who’s Eligible Today?

The COVID-19 booster injection standards have been expanded in several jurisdictions, making it easier for people to acquire a second dosage. A second dose of the Moderna vaccine (or another vaccine brand) may be available to you if you meet the eligibility criteria. The aforementioned drug is backed up by FDA as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Amidst the ongoing spread of the fatal and virulent delta variant, the FDA has approved the Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson doses, as well as Pfizer vaccines for children. Cold weather and the yearly flu season both affect the immune system, making it more likely that another surge of COVID-19 infections will occur.

Unvaccinated people are considerably more likely to be hospitalized if they become infected with COVID-19 than those who have received the FDA-approved vaccines. It is the goal of the Biden cabinet to counteract the outbreak and exert pressure on those who have not been immunized with new federal vaccine mandates.

Let’s find out who is eligible for receiving the Moderna COVID vaccine booster shots.

Who Is Eligible For Moderna COVID Vaccine Booster Shots?

The FDA Approved the Moderna vaccine booster for citizens of age 65 or older and working adults as they’re at high risk of exposure and illness. Pfizer’s booster is also available to Johnson & Johnson recipients of age18 and older, as well as those who have received a dose of the Moderna vaccine earlier.

After receiving a complete vaccination with either Pfizer or Moderna, the CDC recommends that the following people receive a booster dose six months later:

  • Those who are of 65 years and older
  • Those age 18 or older and residing in long-term care
  • Adults with preexisting medical issues who are 18 or older
  • Adults who work or reside in high-risk environments who are 18 or older

Currently, nine states allow individuals over the age of 18 to receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Moderna or Pfizer vaccination recipients who have not had a second dose in at least six months are eligible as well. Johnson & Johnson vaccinated individuals are eligible for a second dosage after two months. Adults are urged to acquire whatever vaccine boosters they can, even if it means combining and contrasting different vaccines.

Booster dosages for adults are now permitted in the following states:

  • Minnesota
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Rhode Island
  • West Virginia

Can You Mix Vaccine Boosters?

The Food and Drug Administration has approved combining Covid-19 boosters shots, which in the United States means Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna.

If you started with Johnson & Johnson and it has been more than two months after your first dose, you’ll be eligible for a Moderna or Pfizer booster. J&J is an allowed vaccine if you had Pfizer, or Moderna as your first two injections and it hasn’t been six months or more since your second injection.

How Does a Moderna booster vaccine Work?

Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson all offer the COVID-19 booster dose to keep your immune system strong while the vaccine’s potency falls. As per recent research, after six months, the performance of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines begins to fade, leaving the receipt at high risk.

According to Moderna’s early statistics, people vaccinated in 2020 are exhibiting a greater rate of COVID infections than those injected this year, indicating the urgent requirement for a booster shot of the aforementioned vaccines.

So, GeeksULTD recommends taking the booster doses as quickly as possible to protect yourself and those around you.
