Julie and the Phantoms season 2 has been long anticipated following after its debut become a number-one hit for Descendants, and High School Musical director Kenny Ortega. Adapting the great premise of a Brazilian sitcom about a girl who jams in a band full of ghosts into a Netflix juggernaut was no little feat for the showrunner. But given his CV, Netflix and fans have expected nothing less.
“I love just the basis of it,” Ortega said (via PopSugar). “Come on, a little girl, awaking the three ghosts exploding into her life and sharing this love of music and starting a band. There was a little Hannah Montana there. It ignited my spirit because it had all of those elements that excite me about wanting to do something, and heart, and magic, and surprise, and action, and adventure.”
But will that “heart, and magic, and action and surprise and adventures of the first season carry over into the second?
Shawn Williamson, the producer, seemed to agree so,
“I believe so, yes [there are avenues to explore in season two],” he told Cinema Blend. “Absolutely. So they’ve certainly set them up well for success in the next season. And Dan [Cross] and Dave [Hoge] as the showrunners were spectacular. And I know that the second season would be as good or better than the first.”
Julie & The Phantoms Season 2 Release Date
Even though a second season of the Netflix series has yet to be approved, neither the show’s fans nor its stars nor the crew behind it have given up hope. Patrons of Julie and the Phantoms have stepped up their calls for a second season of the show.
Every once in a while, the show’s cast and crew have come out about how close we are to winning season 2. Assuming the show goes into development in the spring of 2022, season 2 of Julie and Phantoms Phantoms might premiere in September of that year. If the series misses that opportunity, the chances of it getting deployed in 2023 by an adult or teen series are incredibly low.
Julie and The Phantoms Season 2 Cast: Who’s in it?
Madison Reyes will take on the mantle of Julie again, after all, she’s is the show’s protagonist. In addition to Booboo Stewart who portrayed Willie, Savannah May as Carrie, Jadah Marie as Flynn, and the eerily menacing Cheyenne Jackson as Caleb will also be marching towards a new installment.
What’s Transpired in The Last Season of Julie and The Phantoms?
At the end of season one, we discover that our ghostly bandmates remain on Earth as they have unfinished business; that unresolved issue has not yet been handled, so expect the storyline to linger into the second season. Caleb Covington has taken control of Nick’s body to carry on his dark desires, so in next season we’ll see more of that.
In fact, by the end of the episode, all of our ghost friends appeared to have taken on a physical form – but are they ghosts? Hopefully, we’ll get all our answers in Julie and The Phantom Season 2.
“Honestly, that gets answered very early on in the next season,” Ortega remarked. “So I’ll get socked if I spoiled that. It was meant to leave you in some suspense and hopefully some intrigue – hopeful that something magical is occurring, and that it’s not the end for these three characters.”
Taking to Ecoline about the spark between Luke and Julie, Reyes said:
“I’m excited to see where the relationship goes, especially [because] we didn’t just go right away with the two of them getting together or anything like that. It wasn’t your typical like ‘Girl meets guy, guy and girl fall in love.’ There was struggle. There was challenge.
“They know that it’s not right and that it’s not going to work out but the fact that they can push aside everybody else’s thoughts and just kind of care about each other for what their soul is and who they are and what they represent and project out into the world is amazing. And I feel like we should establish that especially for younger people to know that you don’t have to necessarily rush things. It’s better to just get to know a person. Also, you should listen to what people have to say, but if your heart is telling you this, and you’ve got that gut feeling, then just go for it.”
