Nokia earlier this year announced the Nokia 9, an upper mid range semi flagship device with a very unique approach to the smartphone industry. The phone housed a whopping 5 camera setup at the rear and mainly focussed on the photographic aspects of modern smartphones.
India is one of the largest smartphone markets thanks to its growing GDP and population. The country has offers the largest online platform for its citizens and with a population this huge, sales are bound to explode. Nokia reportedly has passed the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the TA-1087 model of the Nokia 9 is officially certified to be released in India.
As HMD Global seeks global expansion, India is one of its strongest markets with a massive fleet of devices being sold there from budget to mid-rangers and now the Nokia 9. Exposing the highest grade smartphone by the manufacturer in a region like India would most certainly prove beneficial for HMD Global and would significantly affect sales figures.
Having such a unique option for the Indian oriented markets would oblige enthusiasts to opt for the Nokia 9. While Nokia claims that the phone itself isn’t the flagship grade and while it does come with a few shortcomings here and there, the overall device is undoubtedly a solid piece of innovation. As for the release date of the device, nothing is yet known but the device is expected to launch soon with a price ranging from 40,000 INR to 50,000 INR.
