As OnePlus prepares for the launch of the OnePlus 6T within the next day or two, OnePlus has shown off some keen images regarding their preparation for 5G. OnePlus’s CEO Pete Lau took it to OnePlus’s forums to showcase some important information regarding their plans for 5G and how they plan to roll it out over the next few months. Since the OnePlus 6T has no chance of supporting 5G, OnePlus is definitely brewing 5G support for their next-gen device, mostly likely, the OnePlus 7.
According to the details provided by OnePlus’s Co-Founder Pete Lau, the company had joined the 5G initiative in 2017. The company than followed up on the technology a year later following the launch of the OnePlus 6 by launching their own OnePlus 5G lab for R&D purposes. As we neared towards the launch of the OnePlus 6T, the company had successfully made their first call and tweet in the months following the launch of the OnePlus 6 at Qualcomm’s Labs. OnePlus then decided to showcase a video of what seems to be a debugging interface that monitors 5G connections over at Qualcomm’s Labs.
Since the OnePlus 6T would be the last device from OnePlus this year. All eyes are set towards the launch of the OnePlus 7 with its 5G support and beastlier internals as it continues to cause mayhem in the flagship department. Now that OnePlus has made axing the headphone jack much less of a nuisance, the OnePlus 7 would most likely follow with a number of wireless earbuds from OnePlus and hopefully a newly revamped Dash Charge as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5.0 nears in… “Hopefully”.
However, that’s for another time to be confirmed. For now, we have our eyes peeled for the OnePlus 6T keynote scheduled for October the 29th in New York.
