Everything We Know About The OnePlus 6

OnePlus is no longer a stranger in the smartphone market. With the Chinese giant monopolizing the budget market, OnePlus has found a soft spot in everyone’s heart for their excellent smartphones. Often priced considerably lower than its competitors, OnePlus’s devices have bene very well known for their shear beastly internals at a given price point.

With OnePlus finally revamping the OnePlus 5 with the 5T, it’s finally time for the Chinese manufacturer to start working on its next smartphone, the OnePlus 6.

As we continue to dive deeper into 2018, users have started speculating and leaking what OnePlus has been working on behind its curtains. So far, it seems like everything is easy.

UPDATE: OnePlus has official teased the release of the OnePlus 6

April 3rd, 2018: Recently, OnePlus, themselves have decided to ignite the hype a bit by tweeting “6et Ready” on Twitter earlier this morning giving users the impression that the OnePlus 6 is coming soon!

01 | Design

OnePlus has been pretty well known for their bold shaped rectangles. With the OnePlus 5 and 5T, OnePlus showed a bit of a swift in terms of OnePlus’s traditional design language bringing a curvy design for its enthusiasts and a full-view display with the 5T.

Recently, CNMO, a Chinese-based website has leaked some images and leaks of what they allege to be the OnePlus 6. Their leaked images indicate a radical shift in terms of design. The new OnePlus 6 is said to use a glass-back body with and would carry the usual dual-camera setup on its rear. However, this time, the dual camera setup would pack the cameras vertically rather than the traditional horizontal orientation we’ve seen from the OnePlus 5 and 5T.

The display is said to be 6.2-inches and would most usually be a FHD+ display. Images showcased by the Chinese site introduce minimal adjustments to the front of the device and is said to keep the same usual chin and iPhone X-like notch that we’ve been looking to get rid of.

02 | Performance & Features

Since OnePlus has always been about being a beast at a decent price point, the OnePlus 6 would most likely use a Snapdragon 845 SoC. This is the same chip that we could find on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and is Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC at the moment.

The OnePlus 5T would pack a Snapdragon 845 SoC, upto 256GB of internal storage and upto 8GB of RAM. Simply a beast in its entirety. On its rear, rumors suggest that the OnePlus 6’s rear dual camera setup consists of a 16MP + 20MP setup.

However, based off of the image above it seems like the unit above is the entry-level variant of the OnePlus 6. Whether this image is true remains as a mystery right now.

03 | Pricing

OnePlus has priced their smartphones excellently. However, since the first OnePlus, they’ve been gradually increasing the prices of their devices.

Although unlikely, rumors suggest that the OnePlus 6 wouldn’t be a decent “bang-for-the-buck” device. Rumors suggest that the OnePlus 6 may be priced at US$749. If so, not only would OnePlus lose its market, but it would also make Samsung and Apple comfortable pricing their devices at higher price points.
