iPhone 8 Will Feature Highest Screen-To-Body Ratio, Smallest Bezels Of Any Smartphone

KGI Securities’ Ming Chi-Kuo has made ample predictions in the past and is well known for his credibility. In his recent report, he coined that Apple will release two iterative updates for the existing iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and a shiny new iPhone 8 with an OLED panel. Now, the highly credible analyst believes that the iPhone 8 will feature the thinnest bezels for any smartphone, with the highest screen-to-body ratio. This has been made possible with the company’s attempts to put a virtual Home button beneath the display and more.

iPhone 8 To Feature Thinnest Bezels Than Any Smartphone

While previously the analyst claimed that there will be a Home button located beneath the display, there now seems to be a shift in expectations as the new report had suggested that Apple will adopt 3D sensing facial recognition security system which will replace Touch ID. The new report sums up all the recent rumors and holds true to the dummy hardware which have been leaked recently. The screen will be bezel-less from all sides but include a lip at the top of the display housing various sensors including the 3D sensing facial recognition camera.

Reiterating the previous claims, Kuo stated that the OLED iPhone 8 will feature a 5.8-inch display and the usable screen area will be around 5.2 inches, deducting the function area of the screen. Altogether, the iPhone will be similar to the size of the current iPhone 7, slightly bigger as suggested by the dummy models we have looked at.

In addition to this, the successors to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will feature an LCD display panel and would house the same screen size for both variants. It is believed that the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will have glass backs and an aluminium frame. Whereas, the iPhone 8 chassis will be made up of stainless steel sandwiched with glass.

As for the functionality, all three variants will feature wireless charging with the charging pad to be sold separately. At this point in time, the implementation of a fingerprint sensor under the display is quite ambiguous as Kuo states that the Home button beneath the display will not feature Touch ID. The analyst believes that the fingerprint sensor faced various technical issues, preventing Apple to not include it in the upcoming iPhone 8.

The 7s Plus will feature 3GB of RAM while the iPhone 7s will feature 2GB of RAM. The speaker and receiver will be improved as to create more balance and stereo sound. The iPhone 8 will be offered in various colors. Moreover, all iPhone models will ship with 64GB and 256GB of internal storage.

It’s too early to jump to any conclusions at this stage as the company could always surprise us. So let’s see what the company has in store for users.
