Nvidia has finally unveiled their RX480 killer to go up against AMD’s RX480, competition is tough here with the competitive pricing of the GTX 1060. The GTX 1060 is meant to go head to head with AMD’s RX480 for the sub-$300 market.

AMD was locked and loaded with their missile launchers to ensure 10x stock compared to the GTX 1080 shortage drought. We could expect the same from Nvidia as they have a hell of a competitor on their hands to beat. The card will be available globally for $249. According to Nvidia’s leaked slides which showed how Nvidia was targeting the RX480, the GTX 1060 promises big improvements in performance on paper. We’ll have to assess how the card actually performs in real life.
The card comes in 6GB of VRAM rinning at 8GB/s with a maximum clock speed of 1.7GHz and to top off, comes with 1280 CUDA cores. According to the specs, we could suggest that the GTX 1060 will have 4.4 TFLOPs of compute power. All running under a single 6-pin connector.

People do have to remember that TFLOPs isn’t the only factor to consider let’s see how much the GTX 1060 satisfies PC Gamers to get some attention in its favour.

winner rx 480 this gtx 1060 is crap like the 960 but the bias media will spin its better and put out fake benchmarks.
AMD is preparing their card for present and future longevity, just as I was able to use my 280x up til now with zero problems. 480/490 series will work great with new and modern games with the newest techniques and API. Nvidia will lag behind in creativity as usual.

As long as Gameworks doesn’t screw over AMD optimization and the game is made with everyone in mind? AMD cards end up doing great. Things that Nvidia has screwed over like Hairworks or Tessellation make it so they aren’t optimized on AMD cards because Nvidia are assholes.You don’t need to be a fanboy to know how much Nvidia is strangling the competition with cheap, unfair practices via sabotaging games that they don’t even own.

my r9 380x is still running games at 1080p/60like the witcher 3 i can even pull ultra textures and med/high settings and it gets 80fps-90fps.i think the r9 380x is still good for 1080p/60 for a few more years.so i will wait for the 490 or vega cards to come out in a few years.
yep as long as nvidia has no async compute they will fall even further behind amd.its so bad right now that benchmarks are being faked to show nvidia advantages.
Mines just Med/High but I need something stronger for sure, is why I’d rather wait for a 490x than get 480.

well the r9 380x is in between the 380 and 970 and its only 8 months old.and the rx 480 is around the 970 and 980 level so the r9 380x should be good for a few more years im not one to worry about ultra much ill play med/high all day.
