Ted Lasso Season 3 Recap: Mid-Season Review
“Ted Lasso” is back with its third season and has left many fans talking about it. With five episodes out, it’s time for a mid-season review to see what’s been happening with the story so far. In this article, we’ll delve into the latest happenings on the show, characters, and what to expect in the future episodes.
The Story So Far
The third season of “Ted Lasso” has been a rollercoaster ride for viewers. In the first few episodes, Richmond was getting back on its feet when a comically egotistical superstar, Zava, entered the team. His arrival brought some positivity to the team’s morale, finally winning some games. However, after his sudden retirement, the team has been struggling to find its rhythm.
Where the Characters Stand
Rebecca
Rebecca is exploring the idea of having a baby, and we see her revisiting this after a psychic told her that she would become a mother. Although this storyline weighs heavily on her, it’s taken her away from most of her interactions with the rest of the cast.
Keeley
Keeley has her own PR firm, but her storyline isn’t as gripping as we would like it to be. She has taken on her messy friend Shandy, who she later fired, and is now in a relationship with Jack, who controls her funding.
Nate
Nate fell into Rupert’s trap, doubling down on evil, but over time, he has been having doubts about the way he treats Ted.
Ted
Ted discovered that his ex-wife, Michelle, has started dating their former marriage counselor. He also drops the bombshell, “I got one,” which will probably lead to his departure back to the States.
The Issues
Lack of Emotional Weight
The current storylines are not as emotionally weighty as we have grown accustomed to in the past two seasons. We are currently seeing various characters doing their own thing with little interaction between them, which is why we are invested in the first place.
Multiple Storylines
Most of the stories now involve only one of our main characters. It’s very noticeable, and it’s probably part of the reason episodes have ballooned from 30 or so minutes in the first season to 45-plus ever since the second part of last season. Everybody is doing their thing, which is not the Lasso way of bringing people together.
What to Expect in the Future Episodes
The fifth episode ended on a cliffhanger with “I got one” from Ted. The future episodes will probably see his departure back to the States, and we will have to wait and see how that will affect the team.
Conclusion
While it may seem like we are criticizing the third season, we are merely hoping that the show’s creators listen to their viewers and bring back the Lasso we know and love, where the characters’ storylines were more connected and emotionally impactful. We hope that the future episodes will feature more meaningful interactions between the cast as they work together towards common goals.
