What on Earth Just Happened, Aemond? Let’s Analyze Vhagar’s Attack and That Thrilling Scene! Know the Details

Aemond Targaryen and then Vhagar kill Lucerys Velaryon and Arrax in the House of the Dragon season 1 ending, a shocking, devastating death with enormous implications. Aemond and Lucerys’ competition has been one of the biggest subplots structure in the back half of House of the Dragon season 1, commencement with Luke stabbing out Aemond’s eye, and then the latter’s bread to the “Strong boys.”

The finale, though, takings it much further as they meet again at Storm’s End, each command for Borros Baratheon’s support. Though no lifeblood can be spilled under his roof, Aemond sees a chance for retaliation and takes it… and then about.

Aemond and Vhagar give pursuit to Lucerys and Arrax, demanding a debt to be remunerated; an eye for an eye. But, neither Aemond nor Lucerys is a skilled dragon rider, and they have a little regulator in the heat of the battle.

That’s especially factual for Aemond, who is attempting (and failing) to knowledge the biggest, most fierce beast in Westeros. With Arrax afraid of breathing fire at an old dragon who is so much bigger and more vicious, Vhagar justifiably (but brutally) responds; there can be no reasoning at that point. Scorn of Almond’s attempt to control her, Vhagar gulps Lucerys whole, Arrax’s remains tumbling down into the aquatic, and House of the Dragon is irrevocably changed.

In Fire & Blood, although based on historical financial records, it’s very clear Aemond future to kill Luke; angered by both memory of what ensued and being mocked by Borros’ daughters at Storm’s End after Luke has left (rather the show omits), he flies after him in a rage and passes his revenge, seemingly fully aware and in switch of his actions.

The clash is said to be swift, with a few bursts of blame previously it’s all over and Arrax falls from the sky. It fits with Aemond’s portrayal as a brutal character who will not think twice before killing. There are likewise different accounts of what happens to Lucerys’ body, including it being eaten by Vhagar or existence washed ashore with both of his eyes cut out, something House of the Dragon definitively replies.
