In 2020, Disney+ was informed that the comedy film from the 1990s would be getting a third installment. Additionally, Goldberg and Tyler Perry’s roles as co-producers and stars in the film were confirmed. She wants everyone from the original cast to play their roles again.

Goldberg said, looking directly into the camera, “I want to let Maggie Smith know that I’m holding the part of Mother Superior for you because I just can’t do it with anyone but you” while speaking to the British audience.
