It’s a little difficult to understand where Edgerunners fit into the Cyberpunk chronology. An explanation of the series’ time frame may be found below.
The anime version of a video game that most exemplifies this is Cyberpunk Edgerunners. A larger audience was introduced to Cyberpunk 2077 with the successful release of the anime. The video game initially had a difficult start, but the creators have been working hard to improve the entire gaming experience, and it appears that the effort has paid off to some extent.
One of the most interesting improvements to Cyberpunk 2077 is the addition of easter eggs from the anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners, with players being able to locate Rebecca’s shotgun near Arasaka tower. As evidence that the anime characters live in the same universe as V, there is a side mission that can be completed right now that rewards players with David’s recognizable jacket.
The Timeline Explanation Of The Night City
Another indicator is the fact that many of the environments in the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime are recognized from Cyberpunk 2077, making it possible for players to go to the well-known locations featured in the anime. In addition to Lucy’s residence now being playable, V can go to the same locations as Lucy, Rebecca, and David did.
It’s possible to think about Cyberpunk Edgerunners as a kind of prologue to Cyberpunk 2077. All of the events in Cyberpunk Edgerunners took place before the main plot of Cyberpunk 2077, as shown by Rebecca’s abandoned rifle being discovered by a bush and David’s jacket being handed to V by Falco.

The beginning of Cyberpunk Edgerunners may really take place in 2076, one year before Cyberpunk 2077, as has been hypothesized. This would make sense given that the location of Rebecca’s shotgun and the scene of her murder by Adam Smasher are the same in both media, and that Rebecca’s shotgun is still there.

In Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077 fact is that buildings and cities do evolve through time. The places and scenery from Cyberpunk Edgerunners may be seen when strolling through Night City for fans of both the video game and the anime.
It’s a cool little bonus for people that played the game after viewing the anime adaption because all of the songs performed in Cyberpunk Edgerunners are also played in Cyberpunk 2077.
Whether CD Projekt Red will or won’t include further easter eggs in Cyberpunk 2077 is still up in the air. It wouldn’t be surprising if a few additional details were added in the upcoming months given that the existing easter eggs were introduced to coincide with the release of Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
