John Wick director Chad Stahelski is set to helm Black Samurai for Netflix, with the script coming from John Wick co-writer Derek Kolstad.The project is based on the 1976 novel Black Samurai by Marc Olden, which follows Robert Sand, a African-American Marine who becomes a bodyguard and then assassin for the Japanese Mafia in New York City.

Stahelski will also produce Black Samurai alongside Basil Iwanyk of Thunder Road, while Erik Howsam and Tonia Davis of Grand Electric are executive producing.Keanu Reeves will star in and produce a new movie called Black Samurai, which will be directed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski.
The movie is based on the 1974 novel Black Samurai by Marc Olden, which follows Robert Sand (Reeves), a Vietnam vet who becomes a CIA operative and then a private eye in New York City. Sand is also trained in the martial art of ninjutsu by a sensei named Okasa (Hiroyuki Sanada), who he later teams up with to take down a crime lord.
Black Samurai will be produced by Stahelski’s 87eleven banner, along with Reeves’ company, Company Films. After making a name for himself with the John Wick franchise, director Chad Stahelski is teaming up with Netflix for a new movie called Black Samurai.The film will star Mark Dacascos in the title role, and is based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Marc Olden.

It tells the story of Robert Sand, a former Marine who becomes a bodyguard and private investigator in Japan.Stahelski is no stranger to action movies, and he looks to bring that same kinetic energy to Black Samurai. “I’ve been a fan of Marc Olden’s work since I was kid,” he said in a statement.
“I’m excited to bring his iconic character Robert Sand to life on screen.” Based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Marc Olden, Black Samurai follows the story of Robert Sand (played by Mark Dacascos), a former Marine who becomes a bodyguard and then an assassin for the Japanese mafia.Stahelski is no stranger to action movies, having directed both John Wick films as well as Atomic Blonde.
Also, he is in the upcoming Highlander reboot too. For Black Samurai, Stahelski will be working from a script by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writing duo behind The Collector and Saw IV-VII.Dacascos will also serve as a producer on the film, alongside Stahelski and his 87Eleven Entertainment partners David Leitch and Kelly McCormick. The shooting of this movie is yet not announced.
