In Overwatch, Doomfist’s Left Hand Harms More People Than His Right. Learn More in This Post to Learn Why.

Doomfist, who wields the gauntlet in Overwatch 2, is dealing more damage to opponents with his normal hand rather than his preferred weapon.

While Doomfist, the gauntlet-wielding Talon leader of the Overwatch universe, continues to serve as a damage dealer in Overwatch 2, it appears that the majority of the damage is not being dealt by his notable weapon. This does not mean that Doomfist’s weapon lacks power overall; the charged punch still deals much damage in a single hit. One player has demonstrated that the charged punch’s overall DPS and time-to-kill are significantly slower than those of the standard melee attack thrown with Doomfist’s normal hand.

As previously stated, Doomfist is the leader of Talon, a global terrorist organization that frequently finds itself at odds with the heroes and peacekeepers of the series. The man who was born Akande Ogundimu is not the first Doomfist either; rather, he is the third person to wear the eponymous name and the gauntlet into battle to rise through Talon’s ranks and eventually become the organization’s leader by the time the first Overwatch was released.

In the narrative, he is hiding out after getting out of jail. Still, he keeps working to create conflict between humans and omnics to achieve Talon’s goal of elevating humanity through conflict.

User 900FOG posted about Doomfist’s DPS and TTK disparity on the official Overwatch 2 subreddit, highlighting it by taking him to the game’s training course.900FOG first displays the damage from a single charged punch from Doomfist’s gauntlet-armed hand, which does a lot of damage but is not a one-hit kill and has a slower TTK due to the cooldown. The basic melee from an unarmed hand, on the other hand, still deals less damage in a single hit but has a much faster TTK than the charged punch.

Overwatch 2 is currently plagued by a growing number of criticisms and issues, including damage and cooldown bugs that can completely ruin matches and flipped locations on victory or play of the game screens. Torbjorn and Bastion, two of the latter, have been removed from competitive play as of this writing due to the bugs. Players had been able to repeatedly press the ability button in both cases, allowing Torbjorn’s Overload to continue for an indefinite amount of time and Bastion’s artillery barrage to effectively paint the map and circumvent the intended three-shot limit.

Players could argue about how much of an issue Doomfist’s damage and TTK disparity are in comparison to the issues mentioned earlier. Overwatch 2 places Doomfist in a different balancing position than when he first joined the game as a DPS hero because of his new role as a tank. It’s possible that Blizzard made the balanced decision to use a slower TTK on the charged punch to fit his new role, but only time will tell.
