Ask most gamers what is the best game ever made by Square Enix and they will answer one of the Final Fantasy games (Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X are common answers).
However, if the person asking this question doesn’t mention any of the legendary fantasy epics, they’ll probably answer “Chrono Trigger” with a big grin on their face. Anyone who has played it will smile, nod, and clench their fists. Final Fantasy has been the company’s flagship franchise for years, but for many players, Square Enix’s standout is Chrono His Trigger.
It’s a time-travel RPG with multiple endings, an intuitive combat system, and characters designed by Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama. A game was released for the Super Famicom in 1995.

It wasn’t a huge success at first in Japan or the United States, but word-of-mouth saw steady sales of the game, and the company revisited it frequently, eventually becoming one of the best-selling titles.
In 2001, the game was re-released as part of Final Fantasy Chronicles for Sony PlayStation. This edition not only brought the game to a new audience but also received new anime cutscenes to further illustrate Toriyama’s excellent character design. Though these animated sequences were a nice touch, fans have been wondering what a full Chrono Trigger anime would look like.
What are the odds of Square Enix commissioning a Chrono Trigger anime? Turns out there was an anime for the game... not quite what the fans were expecting or wanting. hasn’t done much to re-release the short.
It was originally released as a promo tape of sorts, and although the existence of the tape could be confirmed, it’s not clear to the audience how it was originally intended. I wasn’t sure if I got it. It might have been an interesting addition in one of the game’s various re-releases, but the studio didn’t seem keen on revisiting it, making it a lost medium.

The good news is that short films were subscribed to by fans years ago and have been circulating on the internet ever since! I’ve included the short text above if you want to take the time to read through it quickly.
As you can see, there isn’t much to say about this. I think it’s a cute short film, but it doesn’t have much to do with the Chrono Trigger game, and while some fans might find the existence of this OVA interesting, most fans would be skeptical of such a regular You will want to watch anime.
The included animation technology uses the new release of the game. Maybe one day Square Enix will ditch the short film and re-release it properly with behind-the-scenes interviews. It’s interesting to hear why it was released a year after it was put down. It exists, that’s for sure. However, the value of this existence is probably quite controversial for fans of the series. means.
