Kim Kardashian Addresses Allegations that She “Damaged” a Famous Marilyn Monroe Outfit

At the Met Gala, Kim Kardashian claimed she didn’t tamper with Marilyn Monroe’s gown.

The late Hollywood legend’s classic gown, which is held by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, was allegedly ruined, according to the 41-year-old star, when she was permitted to wear it on the red carpet last month.

When asked if she “ruined” the outfit on Tuesday’s broadcast of “Today,” she responded, “No… Ripley’s [and I] worked together so nicely.” It was applied to me by handlers wearing gloves.

Scott Fortner, a collector, previously called Ripley’s Believe it Or Not “irresponsible” for lending the brunette beauty the dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 when she sang Happy Birthday to then-President John F. Kennedy. He also charged the dress with “irreparable” damage.

Kim has since clarified that she only wore the garment briefly and that it was for the Met Gala’s Gilded Glamour theme.

She added: “What is more American than Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday to the President of the United States?” I admire [Monroe]. I understand how much this dress means to American history and with the [Met Gala] theme being American.

“Such a procedure was used.” I put on the dress at the bottom of the red carpet after arriving in a robe and slippers, then I ascended the steps.

I may have worn it for three to four minutes before changing at the top of the stairs.

Her remarks follow Ripley’s debunking of claims that she harmed the gown.

In a statement, they stated: “While Kim Kardashian’s choice to wear the Happy Birthday dress has been hotly debated, the reality remains that she did not in any way harm the outfit during the brief period it was worn at the Met Gala.”

Kardashian revealed to Hoda Kotb during a recent interview with Today that the staff at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! I helped her gently put on the outfit. Additionally, the entire procedure made sure the dress at all costs maintained its original form and shape.

I entered the red carpet in a robe and slippers, set the dress on the floor, and ascended the steps. I probably wore it for three to four minutes, “explained Kim.

She responded with an emphatic “No” when the interviewer questioned if the rumors that she had ruined the famous garment were accurate. She also praised Ripley’s for their rigorous method that helped her get into and out of the dress.

Monroe wore the classic outfit in 1962. In this attire, she sung the birthday song to John F. Kennedy at the time.
