’Imposters’ Is a Must-watch That Uses Clever Storytelling and Great Acting to Entertain

Bravo released their scripted series Imposters in 2017, a criminally underseen hour-long series about a con woman and the bunch of people she f*cked over who was hot on her tail. That first season was surprising, thrilling, and addicting, as many people discovered a year later in early 2018 when it was released on Netflix.

Just this year did everyone need to be watching Season 2 on Bravo, not only because the new season was just as amazing and knew how to capitalize on everything wonderful about its predecessor, taking the hunt to new areas with new participants.

But also because Imposters was not renewed for a third season (though there is a petition to alter that!). Unfortunately, there are only two seasons. The fact that those near-perfect two seasons are now available on Netflix is great news since it makes Imposters the amazing binge it was supposed to be.

Inbar Lavi plays Maddie Johnson (among many other aliases), a lady who wins hearts and then takes from them, as Ezra (Rob Heaps), Richard (Parker Young), and Jules (Marianne Rendon all discovered the hard way. Except that this group, dubbed “The Bumblers,” wasn’t about to languish in their shattered hearts and depleted cash balances.

They went out to find the woman who had created all of this trouble, and it turns out that they weren’t the only ones with that intention.

The FBI is engaged, Maddie’s boss is involved, a tremendously terrifying person dubbed The Doctor is upset (which isn’t great), and, oh yes, Uma Thurman is in this episode as well. It’s one of Thurman’s most interesting parts in years, as the badass Lenny Cohen, and one that will make your heart race every time she appears on the screen.

Imposters are one of those rare shows that will have you wondering, gasping, and laughing all at the same time. All of that pleasure, along with the insane cliffhangers that conclude most episodes, makes this program ideal for binge-watching.

Season 2 (which debuted on Netflix earlier this month) reveals that The Bumblers are still as much fun as ever, Maddie is (nearly) confronting her problems, and The addition of Paul Adelstein (also a co-creator of the program) as Shelly Cohen keeps things interesting in the Imposters universe. And, as we discover more about these characters’ backstories, expect to see these performers a lot in the future.

But for now, watch them in the superb Imposters, which is available on Netflix and will allow you to fluidly transition from one exciting episode to the next in a binge you won’t want to finish. And, while the show’s tagline is “always forward, never back,” they’ll definitely understand if you go back and watch it all over again.
