With the PlayStation DualSense wireless controller, you can take your gaming to the next level.
PlayStation comfort and next-generation accuracy are brought to your gaming experience by pairing directly with your compatible iPad, iPhone, Mac, or Apple TV through Bluetooth. It’s also compatible with tens of thousands of games, including those on Apple Arcade, that accept controller input.
PS Remote Play
PS Remote Play Apple and your DualSense wireless controller may be used to play games on your iPad, iPhone, or Mac. An internet connection and a PlayStatio Network account are required to use the app.
Pairing your device
In iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3, and tvOS 14.5, you can easily pair the DualSense wireless controller with your Apple device the first time you use it thanks to official support.
Charging the controller
To power up the Sony DualSense wireless controller, simply plug it into a USB Type-C port on your computer or laptop (cable not included). Using a USB Battery Charging 1.2-compliant wall charger or a normal USB 2.0 or 3.0 connection on a PS5 console, Mac, or PC computer is required to charge the battery pack.
PlayStation 5 DualSense is a great controller—in our opinion, one of the finest on PC. In addition, the fact that we included it on our list despite the fact that it does not provide official drivers or firmware updates shows just how enamoured we are with its adjustable triggers and “the most subtle rumble we’ve ever felt” (despite very few games fully supporting these features).
When it comes to the PC-DualSense interaction, things have just become a little bit easier as we no longer have to plug the controller into a PS5 in order to update the controller’s software. After downloading and following the instructions provided on the official PlayStation website, plug in your DualSense wireless controller through a USB cord and you are good to go.
With Steam, using the DualSense controller via USB or Bluetooth is a breeze because there are no official PC drivers. Because the DualSense is based on the older DirectInput API rather than the more general XInput, many games won’t be able to recognize it.
Most games will function with your controller if you enable Steam’s ‘PlayStation Configuration Support’ in the controller options.
DualSense’s biggest problem on PC right now is that not many games are taking advantage of its star features. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Metro Exodus, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, and Deathloop are among the few games that enable adjustable triggers and haptic feedback (though the fact that games like Genshin Impact are being updated to include DualSense support gives us hope).
It’s important to keep in mind that if you’re using Steam to play games with DualSense support, you must disable PlayStation Configuration Support.
