Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, and Cody Johnson were the top winners during Monday night’s CMT Music Awards, which had its inaugural broadcast on CBS and Paramount. But not everything was included in that broadcast.
Parker McCollum was a first-time CMT Music Awards winner last night, taking home breakthrough video of the year for “To Be Loved by You.”
McCollum was chatting with participants of the clicking behind the curtain when it changed into the discovery that one in every one of his musical heroes, George Strait, received CMT performance of the year, for his rendition of Charley pride’s.
“Is everyone Going to San Antone?” when Strait’s popularity video was regarded on a live stream of the awards display, Strait’s fellow Texas native McCollum eliminated his baseball cap.
Maddie & Tae also picked up their first CMT tune Awards: group/duo video of the year for “girl you got.”
Maddie Font took the stage solo to just accept the honor, even as her cohort and new mother Taylor Kerr seemed through a video message, retaining her new child daughter Leighton, who turned into born three months early. Font gave an emotional attractiveness speech onstage, and backstage, the tears were still flowing.
Cody Johnson was another first-time winner at some stage in the evening, choosing up to two wins, along with a male video of the year for “’ Til you can’t” and CMT digital-first performance for “dear Rodeo,” from CMT Campfire sessions. Johnson says the wins are a testimony to his fanatics’ steadfast guide.

Jason Aldean gained twice at some stage in the evening, inclusive of his first actual video of the year win, for “If I Didn’t Love You” with Underwood. For Aldean, the win comes after 17 years in tune. throughout her CMT tune Awards overall performance of “Ghost story,” Underwood ramped up the theatrics for a high-flying, aerial performance that can pay homage to her reflection: The Las Vegas Residency.
Keith Urban opened this year‘s CMT track Awards by appearing in “Wild Hearts” inside Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium.
