Zain Nadella, the son of Microsoft CEO Satya and his wife Anu has died at 26 years old. He was born with cerebral palsy which left him unable to walk or control any body parts on command but this didn’t stop Zai from achieving great things in life!
The cause for death is still being determined as investigators comb through evidence related to possible suicide(s).
In a message sent out to all executives, the company told those who are close with Zain that he has passed away and asked for their thoughts as well-wishing him peace during this difficult time.
Under CEO Nadella’s leadership, Microsoft is shifting its focus to serve those with disabilities. In 2014 the company launched designed products for users who are blind or have other vision impairments and this year they established an endowed chair in pediatric neurosciences named after Zain Italia Nelson whom I had been working closely alongside throughout his treatment at The Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP).
“Zain will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his bright sunny smile and the immense joy he brought to his family and all those who loved him,” Jeff Sperring, CEO of Children’s Hospital, wrote in a message to his Board, which was shared with Microsoft executives.
