The long-rumored sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as several new Star Wars titles, have now been announced by Electronic Arts.
In addition to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and 2020’s throwback flight simulator Star Wars Squadrons, EA has been working on Star Wars title since 2016’s Star Wars Battlefront reboot. While the titles have been controversial among fans, Disney’s collaboration with EA has produced a few well-received games.
Even though EA’s licensing rights to the Star Wars series seemed to expire early last year, several major AAA publishers are working on new titles.
Ubisoft’s open-world titles as well as Quantic Dream’s High-Republic-set Star Star Wars Eclipse are two examples of new immersive Star Wars experiences that have been developed in partnership with Disney. Although the publisher was mainly dormant on any new game revelations during 2021, this does not necessarily imply the closure of EA’s Star Wars foray.
EA confirmed today that Vince Zampella, the founder of Respawn Entertainment, is overseeing the development of three new Star Wars titles.
The forthcoming projects will cover a wide range of gaming styles. The long-awaited successor to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the newly revealed projects. Another is a tactical game being created with gaming pioneer Greg Foertsch and his newly founded company, Bit Reactor, while a third is a Star Wars-based first-person action-shooter being helmed by Peter Hirschmann, Respawn’s Game Director.

Apex Legends creator Respawn is a natural choice for these newly revealed Star Wars titles, having produced the highly acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in 2019.
The tale of Cal Kestis, the former Jedi Padwan-turned-fugitive who scoured the cosmos in quest of the last remaining Jedi, and also the excellent exploring and action gameplay in The Fallen Order, were favorably received by fans.
Even Cameron Monaghan, Cal’s voice actor has hinted at the prospect of a darker route for his persona in the follow-up after the triumph of EA’s first Jedi: Fallen Order.
Even though the shooter & strategy follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order might come as a shock to many players, it’s been speculated for months already. According to rumors, the game would be unveiled before E3 2022, and a gameplay teaser would appear at 2022’s Star Wars Celebration.
For Star Wars enthusiasts, the future seems bright with Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars title, Star Wars Eclipse, as well as the freshly revealed trio of EA-published projects. With EA’s recently announced Star Wars games, fans will have lots of options when it comes to how they want to experience the world.
Assuming everything goes well, Vince Zampella, the co-founder of Respawn, was recently appointed the de facto of EA’s Battlefield franchise after the catastrophic debut of Battlefield 2042 last year.
