Crysis remastered was recently confirmed by the developers on with up to 8K support on PC. Introducing spectacular visuals and an engaging storyline, the game is indeed a legend that pretty much shaped up our modern-day FPS games. Despite all the craze about the remaster featuring RTX features and 8K textures things don’t just end there.
The latest version of the Crytek engine for the first time would, in fact, render real-time ray tracing on current generation consoles. More specifically on the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro produced by its own proprietary engine. Active real-time ray tracing has been the talk of these past few years with Nvidia leading the way with its RTX graphics cards. However, the idea of ray tracing was never really expected to be implemented on current generation consoles.
The midterm refreshes clearly pack a punch but being able to handle such features is definitely something to look forward to. The remastered Crysis is set to launch this September 15th featuring a total refresh set to match up to modern standards. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how the Crytek engine matches up over on the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. Similarly, this could very well mean that folks on PCs could very well take advantage of the proprietary software and enjoy ray tracing. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how it stacks up to Nvidia’s RTX program.
