Huawei isn’t done yet with their Kirin 980-powered launches for the year. Soon after Huawei announced the new Huawei Mate 20 & Mate 20 Pro, new rumors and leaks have surfaced suggesting that Huawei is allegedly prepping to release the successor the last year’s Honor V10, the V20.
Huawei Honor V20’s Design and Specifications
Specs and pictures of the new Huawei Honor V20 appeared online on Chinese website Weibo detailing the successor to the Huawei Honor V10. According to the post published on the Chinese web-forum, the user claims that the Huawei Honor V20 would pack Huawei’s new Kirin 980 SoC, 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage and 8GB of RAM. In addition to that, the user from the forums also posted an Antutu benchmark result that allegedly comes from the leaked device showcasing what the device is capable of.
The device managed to score about 291,000 which is pretty average for a device with similar internals and does indeed manage to stack up to the rest of the competition, that is until the Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 finally arrives in major flagships next year.
Based on the image published by the user, the Huawei Honor V20 would feature a punch-hole camera within the display (similar to Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy A8S). In addition to that, while not mentioned by the user, the device would feature a 2310 x 1080 display under the hood and would run Android 9 Pie out of the box along with Huawei’s in-house EMUI skinned on top of it. Regarding screen size, it seems like the display could be well over the 6-inch mark based on the image above.
Pricing & Availability
Pricing for the Huawei Honor V20 was revealed by the user. According to the user, the Huawei Honor V20 would retail for about CNY 3000 that is approximately US $439. While it certainly in inline to compete with OnePlus, especially the now discounted OnePlus 6, we’re expecting that price tag to inflate to around $499 as it launches in many other regions.
Regarding availability though, it seems like the Huawei Honor V20 would most probably launch later this month given that the Honor V10 has been in the market for 13 months now. Given that Huawei definitely has a ton of boots to fill in before the launch of the Huawei P30 last year, it’s only plausible to see Huawei launch devices with the Kirin 980 as rumors suggested the announcement of the new Kirin SoC, the Kirin 990.
