Samsung has been out of touch when it comes to their SSD lineup for quite a while now. Today, the company has planned to refresh that and announce a few new SSDs to their collection of storage options for PCs. The latest launch, dubbed as the 860 EVO plans to push 1TB SSDs into the mainstream as SSD storage prices continue to plummet.
The newly announced 860 EVO is based on SATA 3 and would be available in three variants featuring MLC NAND flash. The three storage capacities starting with 1TB as the base capacity, followed by 2TB and 4TB storage capacities. Each and every capacity has been equipped with a decent amount of RAM to back those SATA 3 speeds beginning with the base capacity that’s equipped with 1GB LPDDR4 RAM, followed by 2GB and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, respectively.
Samsung claims that like its predecessors, the 860 QVO would be rated as SATA 3’s max throughput with 550 MB/s reads and 520 MB/s writes across the board.
Regarding availability, Samsung would be releasing the 860 QVO into the market by December with pricing for the 860 QVO starting at $149 for the 1TB option. Samsung is yet to reveal the pricing of the other two variants, but it’s likely that we would most likely find the prices of the 860 QVO 2TB and 4TB from unofficial sources.
