Nintendo has been making some excellent strides ever since the launch of their hybrid phenomenon of a console, the Nintendo Switch. The excellent structure of the console and excellent titles lineup has brought massive success to Nintendo. Last year December, the company reported that it had sold over 10M consoles globally and looks forward to 2018. Now that we’re six months into 2018, there’s no wonder how many consoles the Japanese company has sold so far.
However, we can’t say that the success of the console could be credited towards Nintendo’s excellent development cycle and titles only. Aside from their games, Nintendo is trying to play Microsoft’s cards too. The keen interest from Microsoft on the Xbox One family of consoles has led Nintendo to enable cross-play on multiple platforms as well.
Recently, Nintendo announced that Minecraft would also join the crossplay titles box where Nintendo Switch players would be able to embark onto adventures with their friend regardless of their platform. This is some excellent news indeed, especially for a title that has massive backing from its players. This move further entices Sony’s decision on keeping crossplay away from the rest of the gaming community too.
The Nintendo Switch version of the game would allow Switch players to play with Microsoft Xbox One players, PC gamers and mobile gamers. Definitely enticing for Nintendo and Microsoft. I’m sure gamers would enjoy the step Microsoft and Nintendo have taken.
