E-sports is growing at a rapid pace. With a ton of games trying to make their way into the competitive scene, EA has also been trying their best to get into the e-sports scene. We’ve seen EA try to get into the e-sports scene with previous titles as well. However, it seems like EA is finally trying something new to allow fans to get a hold of the game competitively.
With Battlefield 1 about to mark its first anniversary next month, EA has announced that they are now implementing a 5v5 mode called ‘Incursions’ which is supposed to allow Battlefield 1 gamers to take the game more seriously. The incursions mode would be a perfect place for serious gamers to play with other gamers competitively. Aside from the 64-player madness that the Battlefield series is very well-known for, I am having an excellent feeling that the WWI take from Battlefield 1 would bring an excellent ting into the mix. Excellent fast-paced strategic gameplay would allow the best teams to win. And so far, EA seems to be very confident about it.
EA is limiting their competitve gameplay by allowing a single vehicle per team. EA says that they are confident with this implementation of competitive play as they have built the foundation for “Incursions” from the ground up.
With titles like Counter Strike:Global Offensive currently topping off the charts in competitive FPS gaming, I am personally eager to try out Battlefield 1’s incursions mode. Such a mode would not only put Battlefield 1 players in an excellent environment, but should also be able to lure in other gamers from other titles such as CS:GO. A range of online gamers and streamers are in favour of trying the game out competitively. If EA implements ‘Incursions’ throughout the systems that Battlefield is available on, its going to be interesting how they would bring PlayStation and Xbox users into the mix.
In EA’s FAQ section, EA sets them apart from other FPS titles by mentioning the amount of dynamism Battlefield 1 comes with, it says:
The Battlefield 1 Incursions Closed Alpha is unique in that it has both infantry and vehicle combat, large scale destruction, and relies heavily on strategy and teamwork.
One of the key reasons for the success of CS:GO could be accredited due to the fact that it doesn’t require high-end hardware to run it. However, with Battlefield 1, its going to be interesting how they are going to make the switch here. I personally can’t wait to try out the Incursions mode for myself. Indeed some exciting times ahead for Battlefield players ahead and an excellent way to keep the game engaging from EA.
