Mario Kart 8 is Nintendo’s key titles that launched after after the Nintendo Switch hit stores. With the Nintendo Switch selling like hot cakes after its release, the titles lineup has been strong. What seemed to be a small lineup actually allows the Nintendo Switch to stay alive by releasing a single first-party title at a time.
Among the first-party titles Nintendo released was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Launched not too long ago on the 28th of April this year, the Nintendo Switch along with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold very well. According to statistics provided by VGCharts, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sales have almost reached 2M as of the 3rd of June 2017. That’s a bit more than a month, yet impressive. Here’s a breakdown of its regions.

North America: | 0.82m | 41.6% |
Europe: | 0.56m | 28.5% |
Japan: | 0.46m | 23.2% |
Rest of the World: | 0.13m | 6.7% |
= Global | 1.97m |
With the game still trying to keep itself above the water, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still among the best sellers in Japan. What’s worthy of noting is that these sales numbers account for retail sales solely, not digital. If so then without a doubt, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe should have already hit 2M in total sales.
What’s great to see is Nintendo keeping the Switch fresh and keeping its player base active. There’s still a number of excellent titles upcoming on the Switch.
