Ubisoft has just fallen short in pushing 4K on the Xbox One X. After a 2 year gap, Ubisoft is back with another installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Dubbed Assassins Creed: Origins, this new installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise takes you to Egypt.
Along with the launch of the Xbox One X, it was highly expected that the Xbox One X is capable of playing games in full 4K natively. Now while we also doubted the fact, Digital Foundry, a tech analysis channel was quick to do an analysis of their own.
In Digital Foundry’s testing, it was found the Xbox One X does utilize upscaling techniques to achieve the full 4K resolution. While not native 4K, the work done by Ubisoft is definitely praiseworthy. Lighting effects and color grading has been done excellently to get gamers immersed into the experience. Alongside that, Ubisoft also confirmed that the game actually utilized dynamic resolution scaling, a technique used to dynamically adjust the output of the image based on the amount of frame-rates, giving frame-rates a higher priority compared to resolution.
There’s still quite an amount of time Ubisoft could use before its release on the 27th of October 2017. It’s going to be interesting to see what improvements Ubisoft will put into play before it releases later this year.
