AMD’s Missing Wraith Max Coolers To Be Bundled With Ryzen 7 1800X & 1700X CPUs

AMD has had a great launch. Despite lagging a bit behind Intel in the gaming scene, AMD has definitely taken the Intel’s X99 platform by storm by introducing their 8-core 16-thread monsters for half of the price of Intel’s offerings.

The Promised Wraith Resurrected!

Until now, AMD has bundled their AMD Wraith Spire RGB cooler with the R7 1700 only. At the Ryzen Reveal, AMD announced three new AMD Wraith Coolers, the Stealth, Spire and Max.

AMD confirmed that their Wraith Spire Coolers will come bundled with the Ryzen 5 1600, 1500x and Ryzen 7 1700. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 5 1400 will come with the Wraith Stealth cooler. As of the 1700X, 1800x and 1600X, AMD didn’t detail any cooler bundles with those CPUs which led us to believe that AMD will not include any stock coolers with these CPUs.

Today, ETeknix reported that the 1700X and 1800x will come with Wraith Max coolers. However, the caveat here is that AMD will actually charge consumers $40-$60 depending on the CPU for the stock coolers. Considering both, the 1700X and 1800X are 95W CPUs, we actually believe that the Max cooler should actually be quite beefy.

Overall for now, it seems like AMD has played nice right now by introducing these stock coolers. Afterall, you couldn’t find a stock CPU cooler that comes with RGB lighting, but charging $40 seems to be okay, nothing more than that.

Now that all of the that has been confirmed, we’re still blank on which cooler the Ryzen 5 1600X will come with. Even so, it seems like a good use of coolers that expand to a wide range of CPU uses. We’d personally love to see a 1700 by get a price cut by simply removing the Spire cooler. Now all we’ll have to see is how well the Max fares and if there’s actually a benefit to the much more beefy cooler.
